Hey everyone! š¤ I hope youāre all spending your time joyfully, happily, and in good health. Today Iām going to share with you a recipe for Raw Wood Apple Mix (Kacha Kodbel Makha).
Winter is just around the corner, and now we can find lots of fresh vegetables and fruits in the market. I was really craving some tangy bel makha (wood apple mix), so I bought a wood apple from the market. Itās not yet the season for ripe wood apples ā they still need some time to mature. So whatās available now is raw wood apple, and I personally love this kind of spicy, tangy mix. The fun of eating together with the whole family makes it even more enjoyable! I hope youāll also try this recipe.

š„Ingredients:

Raw wood apple, tamarind, dry chili powder, coriander powder, a little cumin powder, salt, sugar, and mustard oil.
šPreparation:

First, I broke open the wood apple and scooped out all the pulp with a spoon. I placed it on a grinding stone (pata), but you can also use a blender if you prefer. However, I think in rural Bangladesh, food ground on a traditional stone grinder or mortar and pestle always tastes better!

I mashed the pulp well on the shilpata. Then, in a plate, I set aside the mashed wood apple on one side and soaked some tamarind in water to soften it. If you donāt want the tamarind seeds in your mix, you can soak the tamarind well in water and use just the pulp.

Next, I mixed the tamarind with chili powder, mustard oil, salt, sugar, and the other ground spices. Be generous with the sugar, mustard oil, and tamarind ā the more you use, the tastier it becomes, especially since the wood apple is raw.

After mixing everything thoroughly, I combined it all with the wood apple pulp and mixed again for a while ā the longer you mix, the better the taste.
And thatās it! Our Kacha Kodbel Makha is ready to enjoy!š„š„
The taste was absolutely amazing. I hope youāll all give it a try and love it as much as I did. Thank you, everyone, for your support ā please stay with me! Iāll be back soon with more new and exciting recipes. ā¤ļø
