At the entrance to the building where I live in Barquisimeto, there is a small planter located next to the entrance door, where a bush with circular, reddish leaves grows, commonly known as Crown of Thorns. Researching on the Internet, I found that its scientific name is Euphorbia milii. However, its thorny stems are reminiscent of the crown of thorns worn by Jesus at the time of his crucifixion, which is why it was given the name by which it is currently known. It is native to Madagascar and is extremely popular as an ornamental plant, although its sap is toxic and can cause irritation if it comes into contact with the skin or eyes, and if ingested, it can cause stomach pain and vomiting. As I have described in previous posts, I process the original photographs using the editing tools offered in their free versions by the applications Picsart and Snapseed.

A la entrada del edificio donde vivo en Barquisimeto, hay una pequeña jardinera ubicada a un costado de la puerta de acceso, donde habita un arbusto de hojas circulares y rojizas, conocido comúnmente como Corona de Cristo. Investigando en Internet encontré que su nombre científico es Euphorbia milii, sin embargo, sus tallos espinosos recuerdan a la corona de espinas que llevó Jesús al momento de su crucifixión, razón por la cual se le dió el nombre bajo el cual se le conoce actualmente. Es originario de Madagascar, y es sumamente popular como planta ornamental, aunque su savia es tóxica, y si entra en contacto con la piel o los ojos puede causar irritación, y si se llegara a ingerir, pudiera provocar dolor de estómago y vómitos.    Como he descrito en posts anteriores, las fotografías originales las proceso haciendo uso de las herramientas de edición que ofrecen en sus versiones gratuitas las aplicaciones Picsart y Snapseed.
