A generation is a group of people who are born and live at roughly the same time, that is, all those who experience the same events within a given period of time. It can also be described as the average period, generally 20 to 30 years, during which children are born and grow up, until they become adults and have children of their own. Within the various social sciences, grouping and identifying each type of generation can be a very useful resource when it comes to understanding how people act in response to certain events or in different environments, and thus identifying their patterns of behavior and consumption. These photos, taken on New Year's Eve 2024, show my mother, who belongs to the so-called Silent Generation, with her 23-year-old grandson (my nephew), a representative of Generation Z or Centennials. As I have described in previous posts, I process the original photographs using the editing tools offered in their free versions by the applications Picsart and Snapseed.

Una generación es un conjunto de personas que nacen y viven más o menos a un mismo tiempo, es decir, todos aquellos que experimentan los mismos acontecimientos en un lapso de tiempo determinado. También puede describirse como el periodo promedio, generalmente de unos 20 a 30 años, durante el cual los niños nacen y crecen, hasta convertirse en adultos y tener sus propios hijos. Dentro de las diversas ciencias sociales, agrupar e identificar a cada una de los tipos de generaciones puede ser un recurso muy útil al momento de conocer cómo las personas actúan ante determinados sucesos, o en entornos diferentes, y de esta manera identificar sus patrones de comportamiento y de consumo. Estas fotos tomadas durante la víspera de Año Nuevo del pasado 2024, muestran a mi madre, perteneciente a la llamada Generación Silenciosa, junto a su nieto (mi sobrino) de 23 años, representante de la Generación Z o Centennial. Como he descrito en posts anteriores, las fotografías originales las proceso haciendo uso de las herramientas de edición que ofrecen en sus versiones gratuitas las aplicaciones Picsart y Snapseed.
