Today we took a break from the blood bank, planned a visit to a special temple, and celebrated my Mommy's Birthday 🎂!
A petición de una amiga especial, que es otra mami que tengo en Cumaná, mi papá salió temprano a ver si conseguía unas galletitas y una rosa. Sin embargo, esta parte de Caracas no tiene mucha actividad temprano.

At the request of a special friend, who is another mommy I have in Cumana, my dad went out early to see if he could get some cookies and a rose. However, this part of Caracas doesn't have much early activity.
Papá consiguió la galleta, pero no la flor, así que compró algo parecido a una flor y que se puede comer 🤭

Dad got the cookies, but not the flower, so he bought something that looks like a flower and can be eaten.
Papá preparó desayuno y yo le regalé a mi mamá una tarjeta que hice con todo mi amor y que me costó mantener en secreto porque a cada rato iba a revisar qué estaba haciendo.

Dad made breakfast and I gave my mom a card that I made with all my love and which I had a hard time keeping secret because she kept checking what I was doing.
Después de desayunar, mamá y papá limpiaron el apartamento y, como se puso un tiempo de lluvia, decidimos salir a visitar la iglesia de la Candelaria antes que lloviera.

After breakfast, mom and dad cleaned the apartment and, as it got cloudy, we decided to go out to visit the Candelaria church before it rained.
Esta es una iglesia muy especial para los creyentes en José Gregorio Hernández (26 Oct 1864-29 Jun 1919), pues sus restos descansan en este templo.

This is a very special church for the believers in José Gregorio Hernández (26 Oct 1864-29 Jun 1919), since his remains rest in this temple.
La mayoría de los católicos venezolanos creemos en José Gregorio Hernández. Mis abuelas son devotas creyentes y toda Caracas, la ciudad donde estudió, enseñó, donde nació su fama del médico de los pobres y donde muriera trágica y prematuramente, está colmada de su presencia.

Most Venezuelan Catholics believe in José Gregorio Hernández. My grandmothers are devout believers and all of Caracas, the city where he studied, taught, where his fame as a doctor of the poor was born and where he died tragically and prematurely, is filled with his presence.
Desde que enfermé, cargo una estampita con su imagen que me regaló Lucy, una hermana de la abuela Belkis, y le he pedido que me ayude a sanar.

Ever since I got sick, I have carried a holy card with his image that was given to me by Lucy, grandma Belkis' sister, and I have asked him to help me heal.
Fue una hermosa experiencia ir a esta iglesia tan especial. Fue mi primera salida a un sitio distinto al hospital o a un laboratorio.

It was a beautiful experience coming to this special church. It was my first time out to a place other than a hospital or a lab.
Rezar al lado de mi mami, dar gracias por todos los favores recibidos, fue una experiencia muy reveladora.

Praying with my mom, give thanks for all the favors received, was a very revealing experience.

I hurt my knees a bit. I had never knelt before. I was moved by the image of the Nazaren in front of me after I lit the candle.
Me encantó haber compartido esta experiencia con mis padres.

De regreso, le pedí al taxista que nos pasara cerca del Centro de Acción Social. Es uno de los lugares donde estudiaba antes del diagnóstico.

On the way back, I asked the cab driver to pass us near the Social Action Center. It is one of the places where I studied before the diagnosis.
Me emocionó mucho estar cerca de este edificio. Usualmente llegaba aquí nerviosas porque venía de Cumaná a ser evaluada.

I was very excited to be near this building. I usually arrived here nervous because I was coming from Cumaná to be evaluated.
Está vez sentí algo diferente. Extraño mis clases, sentirme activa en lo que amo, aprender más...

Regresamos al apartamento y mientras Papá salía a comprar almuerzo, mi mamá y to nos pusimos a jugar.

We came back to the apartment and while dad went out to buy lunch, we just fooled around.
Papá había prometido flores y a esa hora si habían vendedores cerca.

Dad had promised flowers and at that time he finally found some vendors.
