Hey Actifitters,
Yesterday was a transition day before flying back home. Of course we didn't want to just drive directly to LA and wait at the airport. So we decided to make a stop on the way at Big Bear Lake. It seems to be great for skiing in winter and hiking in warmer seasons. But we just planned on driving around the lake, stopping at the viewpoints for a little walking, no time for real hiking.

There's a bunch of small beaches, where we found a lot of people fishing. Very calm and soothing.

It was interesting to find a little fall colors. Nothing like Michigan because lots of their local trees stay green, but it was nice nonetheless.

Most viewpoints we stopped at have easy walking paths and wood bridges. It's not possible to walk around the lake as a full loop, but all these trails cover a good portion of it.

There's also a solar Observatory but it was closed unfortunately. Maybe because of the government shutdown, we didn't check.

At one of our last stops, there were some beautiful houses with perfect lake views. Must be a good spot to live at, with skiing and hiking being to of my favorite things to do! We also stopped at the Village which looked like the typical apres-ski little downtown.

That was a very short visit around Big Bear Lake, but it was a nice way to occupy our last day before flying back home. We still had a little time before going to the airport though. So we made one last stop at Manhattan Beach, very close to the LAX airport.

We missed the sunset, but beautiful colors lingers above the ocean.

And it was finally time, my friend dropped me at the airport for the red eye flight back home. This was a good short vacations around my race in Joshua Tree. I think I will try other 'exotic' races next year, in other national parks maybe. That's a good opportunity to discover new places.
As always, thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow.
