The Cueva del Viento is a volcanic cave located in Icod de los Vinos, north of the Island of Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain).
It is the largest volcanic tube in the European Union and one of the largest in the world, in fact it is the Fifth, although for a long time it was considered The world's largest.

Also considered the most complex volcanic tube in the world, due to its multi-level morphology and passageways.
The cave has no artificial lighting, so the inner route is made with a helmet with electric light. The visited section contains numerous formations and phenomena “drawn” by lava as it advances and changes its viscosity.
This dynamism makes the visitor perceive the cave almost as a living being who has remained “petrified”. And so, the darkness and silence of the environment bring visitors closer to geological phenomena through direct and natural contact.
The Cave has several bilingual panels inside the Visitor Center. There are currently explored and surveyed by the Caving Group of Tenerife

In addition to its great volcanological importance, it has a great biological and palaeontological interest. The development of the Cave includes other cavities connected to each other, such as the Belén Cave, the Sobrado Cave, the Breveritas Cave and the Piquetes Cave.

At €20 per ticket, to pre book is a must and online the easiest way. Get some winter clothing as it will much colder inside than the super famous paradise temperatures of Tenerife.
It will take few shots until you get the right settings in your camera but once you get it right, the textures of the rock playing with your lights will get you a good handful of amazing shots... well worth the visit!!
