Kháos, Creator of the World

Chaos (Khaos), antithesis of the cosmos (Kosmos), is what you have just read. It is its brief explanation (what I have been able to do) about what is chaos according to the Greek cosmogonic accounts (specifically Hesiod). This is the origin principle. Its closest analogy is the Big Bang.

>
**Cosmogony**
It is the mythical story in which it is told how the world was created and ordered, that is, suppose an attempt to explain the origin and order of the universe.
>
**Chaos**
• According to the Theogony of Hesiod, Chaos was the first thing that existed.
• In the work Metamorphoses, Ovid described Chaos as rudis indigestasta moles. Chaos was an unformed mass, where all the elements were jumbled up together in a "shapeless heap".
• According to Cayo Julio Higino in his Fables, in the prologue, he defines Chaos as a descendant of the Darkness. Chaos and Darkness then conceive the Night, the Day, the Erebus and the Aether.

**The cosmogony** basically, as I mentioned, is the attempt to explain the origin of the world and the universe. This unleashes three theories, giving an explanation to the cosmogony, of which are:
• **Orphic cosmogony:** philosophical-religious sect that worships Orpheus. This affirms that the Primordial Egg is from where the world was created.
• **Philosophical cosmogony:** Are the logical principles of the pre-Socratic philosophy where they explain in a rational sense how the world came about. It also includes that the creation of this is caused by natural phenomena.
• **Hesiod's cosmogony:** He explains in his poetic work _Theology_ that the world is made up of Gaia, Chaos, Order and Eros.
