Cuidando de mi, en el mes Rosa..// Taking care of myself, in Pink Month

## Feliz fin de semana mis amigos, espero que estén muy bien, y puedan recargar fuerzas para una nueva semana que esta por comenzar, este mes que paso, específicamente el 19 de Octubre, se celebro el día mundial contra el cáncer de mama, cada año, muchas fundaciones y grupos médicos se unen, y hacen campañas, jornadas especiales, donde realizan estudios clínicos, como el eco mamario, mamografías, todo a bajo costo, para apoyar a tantas mujeres que debemos hacernos estos chequeos anuales, y la mayoría de las veces, no es posible, hacerse este chequeo por falta de dinero, también hacen charlas, para crear conciencia, para que todas las personas, mujeres y hombres, sepan la importancia que es una detección temprana de cáncer de mama, y lo importante que es hacerse estos chequeos, anualmente, ayer, tuve la oportunidad de asistir a una de etas jornadas, y gracias a Dios pude hacerme mi chequeo, les cuento como me fue.

## Como les mencionaba al principio, el día de ayer tuve la oportunidad de poder hacerme mi chequeo anual, en una jornada que se hizo, en honor a la prevención del cáncer de mama, en esta jornada estaban haciendo chequeos generales con especialistas, y ecos mamarios, a bajo costo, dependiendo de los resultados, te daban una orden para mamografías, la cual, también tendría un costo más bajo de lo normal, estos chequeos en mi país(Venezuela), cuestan entre los 60 o 70 dólares, dependiendo del lugar donde te los hagas, pero en esta jornadas podrías hacerte tus estudio, por 25 o 30 dólares, así, que creo que si uno puede, estas oportunidades hay que aprovecharlas, por nuestra salud, es mejor prevenir que lamentar, este era el ultimo día de esta jornada, que se llevo a cabo en las instalaciones de uno de los centros rotarios que hay en la ciudad donde vivo, yo aproveche de ir con mi cuñada y su mamá, llegamos a buena hora, ya no quedaba casi personas, esperamos nuestro turno fuimos atendidas, primero por una Oncóloga quien me hizo un examen general luego me hicieron el eco mamario.

## Al principio estaba un poco nerviosa, estos exámenes siempre me causan un poco de nervios, pero las doctoras que estaban atendiendo fueron muy amables, y profesionales, enseguida los nervios desaparecieron, gracias a Dios mie examen y el de mis amigas, estuvo bien, libre de todo hallazgo patológico, eso me deja muy tranquila, pero igual no hay que bajar la guardia, y siempre estar pendientes ante cualquier cosa que sintamos que no sea normal, con nuestros senos, a pesar de que todo salió bien, me dieron una orden para la mamografía, pues ya estoy en edad de hacerme este estudio, este chequeo en general, desde el eco, hasta la mamografía, es tan importante, podría salvarnos la vida, ojala y más mujeres entendieran esto, luego del eco, nos dieron un tríptico, con información acerca del cáncer de mama, después que pasaron los nervios, me tome algunas fotos, con parte del gran equipo de esta fundación rotaria, creo que hacen una gran labor, un trabajo excelente para la comunidad, con mucho amor y dedicación, luego nos despedimos, y me fui a casa tranquila y contenta de haber hecho algo por mi, por y por mi vida.

They also hold talks to raise awareness so that everyone, women and men, understands the importance of early detection of breast cancer and the importance of getting these checkups annually. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to attend one of these events, and thank God I was able to get my checkup. Let me tell you how it went. was.

## As I mentioned at the beginning, yesterday I had the opportunity to get my annual checkup at a breast cancer awareness event. They were offering general checkups with specialists and breast ultrasounds at a low cost. Depending on the results, they gave you a referral for mammograms, which also cost less than usual. These checkups in my country (Venezuela) cost between $60 and $70, depending on where you get them done, but at this event, you could get your tests done for $25 or $30. So, I think if you can, you should take advantage of these opportunities for your health. It's better to be safe than sorry. This was the last day of the event, which was held at one of the Rotary Clubs in the city where I live. I went with my sister-in-law and her mother. We arrived at a good time, as there were no appointments available. There were almost no people left; we waited our turn and were seen, first by an oncologist who gave me a general exam, then they did a breast ultrasound.

## At first I was a little nervous; these exams always make me a bit anxious. But the doctors who were attending to me were very kind and professional, and my nerves disappeared right away. Thank God my exam and my friends' exams were fine, free of any pathological findings. That puts me at ease, but we still can't let our guard down and should always be attentive to anything that feels abnormal in our breasts. Even though everything went well, they gave me a referral for a mammogram, since I'm now of age to have this test. This checkup in general, from the ultrasound to the mammogram, is so important; it could save our lives. I wish more women understood this. After the ultrasound, they gave us a brochure with information about breast cancer. After the nerves subsided, I took some pictures with some of the great team from this Rotary Foundation. I think they do a great job, excellent work for the community. community, with much love and dedication, then we said goodbye, and I went home calm and happy to have done something for myself, for my life.
