Raspberry, blackberry,goji berries, aronia...pepperoni :)

Gardening continues, in fact this is a fight with grass. To reduce the effect of drought I left grass around some plants. To reduce the effect of evaporation and to protect the leaves of the plants from burns. In one of the previous posts I said that I have a jungle of greenery, but there is a wild flower to refute me. Screenshot 2025-09-25 084533.png I will definitely have to install a drip irrigation system for this part of the garden. The raspberries survived but not all of them, and they have a lot of burnt leaves. I am thinking about shade netting for next year. The currants survived without any major problems. The leaves are still green and look good. And what surprised me positively are the strawberries. They survived in that mess of grass that I left next to the raspberries and currants. And besides that, there were strawberries and now there are some, but they suffered a lot, first from frost and then from drought. But I think there will be enough for next year. Screenshot 2025-09-25 084337.png As for the blackberries, one just dried up. All the others survived and have new young shoots. And now, while I was taking pictures, I see that one of the arches with the blackberry on it has cracked. It will have to be replaced. 20250924_102202.jpg It's been a few years since I planted three chokeberry (aronia) trees. One dried up, one is now bearing fruit. and one is having second thoughts, actually struggling to get going, then the drought hits it, and so on for the second year. 20250924_102256.jpg I planted goji berries (Lycium barbarum) last year. And both bushes are blooming, and have small fruits. 20250924_140401.jpg

20250924_140440.jpg Thanks to @schlees I was able to detect a parasitic plant that had attacked my basil and hot peppers. It was mostly on the basil but started to move to the peppers. I removed it from these plants and it is Cuscuta pentagona, and our folk name for it is fairy hair. And now I can enjoy ripe hot pepperoni peppers. Old Post about Cascuta pentagona is HERE 20250925_083413.jpg
