Greetings everyone, I welcome you all to my blog. It's another great day to listen to the word of God by his servant Bro Eli Soriano

Is Eating Pork Allowed According to the Bible?

It is true that, in the Old Testament, eating pork was considered an abomination for the Israelites. However, it is important to understand this within its historical and spiritual context. When Jesus Christ came, He introduced teachings that brought spiritual cleansing and a new understanding, an insight that the apostle Paul later echoed in his writings.

In 1 Timothy 4:4, Paul states: “For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving.” He explains that every creature is sanctified by the Word of God and prayer. This means that the original permission given to Adam, Eve, Noah, and Noah’s family remained valid until God gave specific temporary laws to the Israelites.

We should also remember that the Israelites lived in Egypt for 430 years before they received the Mosaic Law. During those centuries, they ate the same foods Egyptians ate. The Egyptians consumed pork freely because they did not follow God’s dietary laws. Naturally, the Israelites, living among them, also ate those foods.

But when God delivered Israel from Pharaoh and led them toward the Promised Land, He gave them detailed commandments, including dietary restrictions. One of those commands was to abstain from eating pork or the flesh of swine.

However, Paul later clarified that these laws were temporary, meant only for a particular period until the “time of reformation,” which arrived with Jesus Christ. When Jesus came, He declared all foods clean and removed the ceremonial restrictions that once applied to Israel. Paul, in his preaching, reinforced this truth.

Jesus Christ taught that every creature of God is good and should not be rejected if received with thanksgiving.

In conclusion, the era of Moses and its ceremonial laws has passed. Justification no longer comes through the law of Moses but through the grace of Jesus Christ. Therefore, for Christians today, the teachings of Christ do not forbid the eating of pork.
