Sleeping Together Before Marriage?
To touch a woman before marriage is considered fornication. Fornication, according to the Bible, is when a man engages in a sexual relationship with a woman he is not married to.
1 Corinthians 7:1-2 (KJV) says: "Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband."
In this scripture, Apostle Paul teaches that it is good for a man not to touch a woman to avoid falling into sexual sin. However, if one desires to be intimate, the proper and godly path is through marriage. In other words, engaging in sexual relations before marriage is a sin before God.
As Bro. Eli once explained, circumstances may sometimes bring a man and woman together, perhaps due to living or financial situations. Still, this should never be with the intent of committing sexual immorality. The intention of purity and self-control must always remain.
He also referred to the story of Mary, the mother of our Lord Jesus Christ, and Joseph, to show what a godly relationship should look like before marriage. As written in Matthew 1:18-19, before Mary and Joseph came together, she was found with a child by the Holy Spirit. Joseph, being a righteous man, chose not to shame her publicly but to handle the matter with discretion.
This story serves as a model of righteousness, restraint, and respect between a man and a woman before marriage.
The Bible makes it clear that it is not proper for a man to touch a woman before marriage. Such actions have been forbidden by God to preserve holiness and prevent fornication.
