Greetings everyone. I'm so glad to be a part of people participating in this weekly hiveghana community prompt today.
Folktales is what makes our childhood more interesting and it teach us a lot of lessons. One of my favorite folktales my grandma told me when she was alive is about "Tortoise and Dog”.
The story goes like this: there's a small town called Cafiri. There's a lot of animals in that town and all of these animals are sharing love together. Among these animals we have Tortoise and Dog.
So one day something happens in this town called cafiri there was a lockdown in that town and the lockdown lasted for 3 months and this animals have ate every food they saved before the lockdown starts and when the lockdown comes to an end there's no food again for them because they have eaten everything when they're on lockdown.
So in this town lion is their king and their king called a meeting for all the animals and when everyone are arrive for the meeting he told everyone that there's no food in this land again and he advise them that let's each animals be killing their older mother and father to eat so that they can survive and all this animals accepted.
In the next day many of these animals have killed their mother to eat to survive and dogs have gone somewhere to hide his mother and after some months most of these animals have killed their older mother and father including Tortoise.
And a tough famine begins to the extent that most of them can't survive anymore and everyone they see dog has he they fine and fat and they're asking him how he survived in this time like this and dog replied to them that it's God.
Second day Tortoise visit dog in his house because they're closed friend and when he reach dog house he asked him that how he has been surviving, that he should help him Dog: reply him that it's God that have been faithful to him Totoise: said you know we're friends from childhood tell me your secret I wouldn't let anyone know please. Dog: reply are you sure you will keep this secret from others because we are friends that is why I want to tell you. Totoise: reply yes I will keep it I won't tell anyone Dog: and he reply him that when everyone are killing their mother and father he doesn't kill yours Totoise: reply Ha, how did you do that and ask dog that where's your mother Dog: Replies him that he has kept his mother somewhere and he tells Tortoise not to tell anyone and he also tells him that when there's evening time he will take him there. To cut the story they went there together and the following day Tortoise went there only unaware that the dog and tortoise got caught for that. What I learned from the story is that don't bite the finger that is feeding you when you don't have nothing.
