In today’s prompt, we will be discussing forgiveness and forgetting.
In nowadays, forgiveness and forgetting is very rare. Many Christians have made a decision not to forgive or forget what people have done to them in one way or the other, because the offense may be very painful.
In life, people easily forget good deeds. For example, someone may have helped them before, yet that is forgotten quickly. But when it comes to being offended, or when a promise is made but not fulfilled on time, people find it very hard to forgive or forget.
Some people are so desperate that no matter how you ask for forgiveness, they may say they forgive, but deep inside, they never forget what was done to them. According to Bro. Eli’s sermon, he teaches us that when there is love, it becomes easy to forgive and forget what others have done. He said it is because of the lack of love in the world that forgiveness and forgetting is so difficult (Hebrews 8:12).
Many Christians have fallen victim to this, because they cannot forgive or forget what their church members or even pastors have done to them. Yet they keep attending church day and night, carrying bitterness in their hearts. This can be an obstacle to prayers and even close the door of blessings.
One of the greatest virtues we must have is love. Without love, we cannot forgive or forget the wrongs done to us. The devil uses this weakness against many Christians, because he knows it is not easy to overlook pain. But when we have solid love, we can overcome all these things.
Brethren, let us learn how to forgive and forget one another.

Forgiveness is not just for the benefit of others; it sets us free and keeps our relationship with God strong. True love makes forgiveness possible, and with God’s grace, we can let go of pain and walk in peace.
