I rarely have issues with writing or putting down my words, but when it comes to certain people or topics, it gives me a hard time. I've been trying to put down my words for days now, but then I kept writing, deleting, editing, and all. And it's not because I wasn't serious, but then it seems as if words aren't enough to capture, compliment, or appreciate the good person that you are to me. I still hesitated till your big day passed, but then, I felt the need to still shout you out to the world; a mother like you deserves to be celebrated. Happy 60th birthday, Momma.
Thanks for being the real definition of a mother, thanks for standing by us through thick and thin, and thanks for all the sacrifices. Personally, I felt like doing a lot. You are the one person who never gave up on me; even at my lowest, you kept cheering me on: Jesuferanmi, you can do it. Jesuferanmi, don't give up. Jesuferanmi, you will succeed... And many more are your words that kept me moving. Thanks for all of your prayers, my mum. She can go to church, like, 🤦. I appreciate all of your prayers. Thanks for being my strength; thanks for being my safe space. I know I'm not doing enough yet, and I know I'm not being appreciative enough, but know that I really see you, every one of us, and your children, and we also want the world to know that we are blessed with an amazing, wonderful, and beautiful mother.
We all know being a mother is not easy; now, being a mother in Nigeria is another thing in its own. Thanks for standing by us, thanks for all of your sacrifices, and thanks for all you've endured so we could have a good and much better life. We appreciate the countless days you go hungry just so we could eat, and we are grateful for the countless years you use in hawking just so we could get enrolled in school. Thanks for the true and genuine love. I appreciate you especially because you are special. Thanks for all you do. Thanks for the smile, thanks for the love, thanks for the gifts, thanks for the sacrifices, thanks for everything.
I am not one to not appreciate you, unless I want to be an ungrateful child. I remember all those nights you were awake by my bedside in the hospital with the Bible in hand praying for me; I could recall vividly all those words of encouragement. Thanks for keeping your hope alive, praying to GOD so I could survive...here I am today, Mum. I conquered, and here I am to say thank you, Mummy. Even when I gave up on myself, you didn't give up on me. You so much believed in my name (Jesuferanmi) and the man I could become. The reason we are standing today is that you've never stopped kneeling to pray for us.
At 60, here we are to celebrate you, not just for the years, but also for the love, for the guidance, for the prayers, and for everything you've poured into every one of us.
We love you so much, but we really want it to go beyond words; we want to really show you how much we love you, we want to do more, and we want to really celebrate the special woman, mother, and grandmother that you are. We really want to give you very wonderful memories, I mean a lot of reasons to keep smiling and make you smile because you really deserve it. But then, I know we haven't even gone close to doing that, but we see you, we appreciate you, and God willing...we will do it, and even do more.
Happy 60th birthday to a woman of wisdom, a wife, a virtuous woman, a prayer warrior, a mother, a woman full of wisdom, a gift from God, and a grandmother. May this new year be full of joy, peace, good health, and every good thing.
