Las mascotas son una parte muy especial de nuestra vida. Son ese pedacito de alegría diaria que te reconforta entre tanta maldad y sentimientos difíciles que cada día están más presentes a nuestro alrededor. Cuando los crías y cuidas desde muy pequeños, se convierten en un hijo más y por supuesto, todos sus males y sufrimientos, deben ser atendidos de forma responsable como un padre o madre que somos en la vida real. # Muchos conocen a mi mascota Trueno José por algunas publicaciones anteriores en mi blog. Él tiene ya once años bajo mi cuidado. Lo adopté desde que tenía un mes de nacido. # Trueno José es un mestizo de la raza Rotweiler y ello lo refleja en algunos de sus rasgos y sus colores característicos. Sin embargo, es un perro tranquilo y nada agresivo, eso es algo que me encanta de él y pienso que también debe influir la forma y el amor con lo que lo hemos criado. # En líneas generales él ha sido un perrito muy sano en toda su vida. Una que otra afección que gracias a Dios y con la ayuda de su veterinario, el Doctor Leiva, hemos podido solucionar para que siguiera llevando la vida sana y feliz que lleva en la actualidad. # >![English Version] > >Pets are a very special part of our lives. He has been in my care for eleven years now. I adopted him when he was one month old. > >Trueno José is a Rottweiler mix, and this is reflected in some of his traits and characteristic colors. En días pasados, comencé a notar que el ojo izquierdo de Trueno José, comenzó a secretar lagañas de forma más abundante que lo normal. Lo estuve revisando y noté un enrojecimiento anormal dentro del ojo. Enseguida llame a su veterinario, quien vino a verlo y le diagnosticó un traumatismo corneal, quizás por alguna partícula que se le incrustó en el ojo y, al tratar de rascarse, obviamente se lo maltrató produciendo dicha ulcera. # El doctor le indicó tratamiento con unas gotas antibióticas de nombre Oftasig, las cuales están formuladas para uso en animales, y que adquirí por el costo de 5$ en mi tienda veterinaria de confianza (Agropets sucursal Barcelona), los cuales tienen muy buena dotación y buenos precios, así como excelente atención y recomendaciones. # El tratamiento consiste en limpiar el ojo de la secreción, y colocar tres gotas en el mismo cada doce horas por el periodo de una semana. He notado mejoría en tan solo tres días de tratamiento, esperando que sane por completo y el ojo vuelva a su normalidad. # >![English Version] > >A few days ago, I began to notice that Trueno José's left eye was secreting more eye discharge than normal. I checked it and noticed abnormal redness inside the eye. I immediately called his veterinarian, who came to see him and diagnosed him with corneal trauma, possibly caused by a particle that had become lodged in his eye. When he tried to scratch it, he obviously aggravated the injury, causing the ulcer. > >The doctor prescribed treatment with antibiotic drops called Oftasig, which are formulated for use in animals, and which I purchased for $5 at my trusted veterinary store (Agropets branch in Barcelona), which has a very good selection and good prices, as well as excellent service and recommendations. > >The treatment consists of cleaning the eye of the discharge and applying three drops every twelve hours for a week. I have noticed an improvement in just three days of treatment and hope that it will heal completely and the eye will return to normal.

La consulta fue realizada a domicilio por el costo de 30$, que también incluyó una revisión general, corte de uñas y una hematología que siempre le hago de control en el año, para ver cómo están sus valores sanguíneos. De los resultados sanguíneos, les hablaré en la próxima publicación, ya que, hay que hacerle otro tratamiento y ellos amerita más tiempo y otra medicación adicional. # Debo acotar que no le mediqué por cuenta propia ningún colirio pues, ameritaba la revisión y además, los colirios que se indican en humanos, tienen la mayoría esteroides, lo cual, en el caso del perro, en vez de curarlo de la afección, lo hubiera empeorado hasta quitarle la visión en los casos más graves. De allí la importancia de consultar con los profesionales indicados, antes de colocarle medicamentos por cuenta propia y menos los que se indican para seres humanos. # Cuidar de nuestras mascotas, es una responsabilidad que adquirimos a adoptarlos.
