Hacer actividades extraescolares es un verdadero reto en nuestro país, independientemente de las circunstancias o ubicaciones de las instituciones educativas, especialmente las públicas, ya que en algunos casos se vuelve un poco complejo. Hoy quiero contarles mi experiencia disfrutando de la actividad denominada "Expo Simón: de niño a libertador", una exposición con realidad virtual dedicada a los más pequeños de la casa y a los adultos, con el propósito claro de dar a conocer la vida, la niñez, la adolescencia y la adultez del libertador Simón Bolívar. Además, se presentan diversos personajes históricos que representan la historia de nuestro país, Venezuela.
>Participating in extracurricular activities is a real challenge in our country, regardless of the circumstances or locations of educational institutions, especially public ones, as in some cases it can be quite complex. Today I want to tell you about my experience enjoying the activity called “Expo Simón: from child to liberator,” a virtual reality exhibition dedicated to children and adults, with the clear purpose of raising awareness about the life, childhood, adolescence, and adulthood of the liberator Simón Bolívar. In addition, various historical figures representing the history of our country, Venezuela, are presented.
Con una estructura muy bien organizada y actores clasificados, se inicia una aventura que los mismos escolares calificaron como excelente, ya que les permite transportarse del libro de historia a una realidad y, a su vez, comprender lo que hasta ahora no habían entendido de la historia venezolana. Quizás existan niños cuyo aprendizaje es más visual que de otro tipo, y este tipo de actividades les permite aclarar, documentarse y aprender sobre los próceres. Es una actividad alejada del proselitismo político y sin ninguna intención de generar confusión al respecto, pues se llevó a cabo en las instalaciones del aeropuerto del municipio de Ahora, en el estado Portuguesa, siendo la primera expo con realidad virtual.
>With a well-organized structure and classified actors, an adventure begins that the students themselves described as excellent, as it allows them to transport themselves from the history book to reality and, in turn, understand what they had not previously understood about Venezuelan history. Perhaps there are children whose learning is more visual than other types, and this type of activity allows them to clarify, document, and learn about the national heroes. This activity is far removed from political proselytizing and has no intention of causing confusion in this regard, as it was held at the airport in the municipality of Ahora, in the state of Portuguesa, and was the first virtual reality exhibition.
En un carril de fotografías dejaré plasmado lo que poco a poco disfrutamos de esta aventura, no sin antes relatar de manera breve lo que viví en compañía de mis estudiantes y colegas durante este magnífico día.

Se organizó un traslado en autobuses destinado por la alcaldía hacia la institución educativa, donde se nos informó que debíamos trasladar con cuidado a todos los niños al sitio de encuentro, un lugar bastante cuidado que, por su seguridad y recreadores, nos daba un ambiente de tranquilidad y confort al inicio de nuestra llegada. A cada estudiante se les entregó un cotillón con dulces y bebidas para su disfrute, sin dejar pasar por alto cada punto de hidratación disponible, lo que nos permitió tener un espacio agradable y cómodo para disfrutar de lo que se aproximaba en pocos minutos. La cita era con todas las instituciones del municipio, programadas por hora, y nuestra institución estaba muy emocionada de participar en esta actividad. Los estudiantes estaban bastante entusiasmados al dar inicio a la actividad.
>The mayor's office organized bus transportation to the educational institution, where we were informed that we had to carefully transport all the children to the meeting place, a well-maintained location that, thanks to its security and recreation staff, provided us with a peaceful and comfortable environment upon our arrival. Each student was given a party bag with sweets and drinks to enjoy, without overlooking each available hydration point, which allowed us to have a pleasant and comfortable space to enjoy what was coming in a few minutes. The event was scheduled by the hour with all the institutions in the municipality, and our institution was very excited to participate in this activity. The students were quite enthusiastic as the activity began.
En la primera estación, nos recibió una pantalla gigante con la proyección de una película que mostraba imágenes de los próceres en caricatura, lo que captó considerablemente la atención de los estudiantes y comenzó a darles un abreboca de lo que sería el recorrido. Cabe destacar que había muchos personajes vistiendo ropas acordes a la época de la historia. Infinitas veces se nos ha dicho lo que ocurrió, pero en ocasiones no logramos visualizar de manera real cómo era en ese entonces.
>At the first station, we were greeted by a giant screen showing a film with cartoon images of the national heroes, which really caught the students' attention and gave them a taste of what the tour would be like. It is worth noting that there were many characters dressed in clothing appropriate to the historical period. We have been told countless times what happened, but sometimes we are unable to visualize what it was really like back then.
Así comenzaba esta travesía, que iniciaba en el nacimiento de Simón Bolívar, presentando a su cuidadora y la importancia que tenía para la familia del libertador contar con estas dos personas, incluyendo a la negra Matea, quien se encargó de la educación del niño Simón. Posteriormente, nos encontramos con Francisco de Miranda en el Leander, quien explicaba la historia de cómo llegó por primera vez la bandera tricolor a nuestro país.
>Thus began this journey, which started at the birth of Simón Bolívar, introducing his nanny and the importance that these two people had for the liberator's family, including the black woman Matea, who was responsible for the education of the child Simón. Later, we meet Francisco de Miranda on the Leander, who explains the story of how the tricolor flag first arrived in our country.
En cada estación, pudimos constatar un fragmento de la historia que abarcaba desde su crianza, sus estudios, vestimenta y un sinfín de cualidades que hemos llegado a conocer con el transcurrir del tiempo. Hubo momentos escenográficos que nos transportaban a la realidad, y los personajes, con su magnífico libreto, nos enseñaban más allá de lo que ya conocemos, con vestuarios bastante llamativos y significativos para el momento. Pudimos visualizar a un Bolívar desde niño hasta su adultez, y me atrevo a decir que incluso hasta su muerte. Cuidaron cada detalle para causar un impacto positivo en cada persona que allí entraba.
>At each station, we were able to see a fragment of history covering his upbringing, his studies, his clothing, and countless other qualities that we have come to know over time. There were theatrical moments that transported us to reality, and the characters, with their magnificent script, taught us beyond what we already knew, with costumes that were quite striking and significant for the moment. We were able to visualize Bolívar from childhood to adulthood, and I dare say even to his death. They took care of every detail to make a positive impact on everyone who entered.
Es importante señalar que se hizo una descripción de cada batalla en la que participó, y a los niños se les ofrecieron actividades donde podían pintar, recrear y usar lentes para la visión de realidad virtual, lo que les proyectaba una mejor escenografía. La historia quedó clara; los niños se llevaron un aprendizaje significativo, y nosotros como docentes estamos felices de poder disfrutar de este tipo de evento. Tengo entendido que es una actividad que se está impartiendo a nivel nacional y que probablemente la puedas tener en tu estado. Al finalizar la actividad, recibieron a los estudiantes en un espacio cómodo donde proyectaron un video sobre su vida y realizaron una función de cine donde pudieron disfrutar de cotufas, golosinas y actividades recreativas.

The story was clear; the children learned a lot, and we as teachers are happy to be able to enjoy this type of event. I understand that this is an activity that is being offered nationwide and that you can probably find it in your state. At the end of the activity, the students were welcomed into a comfortable space where a video about his life was shown and a movie was screened, and they were able to enjoy popcorn, candy, and recreational activities.
