Hello everyone, how are you all today? i hope everyone is having a wonderful day. today i made new digital portrait painting. i was feeling more like red today and so i made a drawing with lots of red and a complimentary color of blue...
this is the final drawing:
Below are some process shots and short description of how the painting was approached.
I started with a quick sketch. the portrait was in profile view so i used the loomis circle method draw the initial drawing... i loosely drew the clothing part since most of it would have to be shown with color.
but i am not done with the sketching, i still need to draw the flower.
to be honest i struggled a little bit to draw the flower. I am not quite comfortable with flower and their petal shapes the way they wrap around each other.
according to art teachers i should spend a few days just drawing flowers... But i think that would be mind killing for me...
After i finished the sketch, i immediately started the coloring process, i loosely set some color for the skin and then moved on to the hair because i will be drawing it with that one layer method. i will draw hair all over the skin and then later remove wherever necessary.
I started shading the whole drawing at this point, since the face is in a profile view and there is no bright light source i don't have to worry too much about lighting.
I quickly draw the cloths. i have this blending technique that makes it easier to draw fluffy and furry cloths.
i removed all the extra line from the sketch layer so the cloth looks clean
And then at the end i colored the flower. as you can see i mostly drew it with bold brush strokes and little to almost no blending.
i thought it looked better that way.
And that is how i made this drawing. If you have any thoughts please let me know in the comments and thank you for visiting my blog...
