In this section, I will no longer be handing out STARBITS, as those entries are not allowed. However, I will continue to share high-quality songs, share how I discovered them, and share some interesting facts about them. To top it all off, I will also include several tables with the statistics compiled by the Rising Star game.
Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me remember whether I have already talked about a song before or not. The most recent one is Pibe Cantina of the "cumbia" argentine band Yerba Brava.
Bajan: Gustavo Cerati
My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Bajan of the argentine artist Gustavo Cerati.
A few years ago, out of curiosity, I decided to explore more Argentine artists after discovering the entire musical repertoire of groups such as Los Abuelos de la Nada. The first artist I decided to check out was one who I had heard was one of the greatest idols in the history of Argentine rock: Charly Garcia.
I ended up searching for several of his songs to see if I knew any. From the first few minutes of listening, I was overcome with a strong sense of nostalgia that transported me straight back to my childhood. Back then, my mother used to play a lot of Argentine rock, and many of the songs I ended up recognizing turned out to be his.
I became a huge fan of Charly Garcia, so much so that I ended up exploring all the albums he released, finding more than 30-40 songs that I liked and ended up adding to my Spotify playlist. Talking about this with a friend, he recommended the solo work of another of Argentina's most renowned artists: Gustavo Cerati.
I knew Cerati from his time with Soda Stereo, but I didn't remember his solo career. So the first album I listened to, on my friend's recommendation, was Siempre es hoy. I ended up loving it thanks to songs like Sudestada, Cosas Imposibles, Vivo, and No Te Creo. As I did with Charly Garcia, I ended up exploring more of the artist's albums and came across Amor Amarillo. In Amor Amarillo, I found real gems such as the song that gives the album its name, Lisa, Te llevo para que me lleves, and, of course, my choice today: Bajan.

Gustavo Cerati was one of the most important artists in the history of Argentine music. During the early years of his career, he led the iconic band Soda Stereo alongside Charly Alberti and Zeta Bosio, breaking down barriers between musical genres and bringing their music to people who didn't usually listen to rock. Who in Argentina doesn't know several songs by Soda Stereo?
After Soda Stereo broke up, Gustavo Cerati continued his career as a solo artist, releasing his first album, Amor Amarillo, in 1993. This album included several hits such as Amor Amarillo, Lisa, Te Llevo para que me lleves, and Bajan. The latter is a cover of one of the most famous songs by another Argentine icon: Luis Alberto Spinetta.
