In this section, I will no longer be handing out STARBITS, as those entries are not allowed. However, I will continue to share high-quality songs, share how I discovered them, and share some interesting facts about them. To top it all off, I will also include several tables with the statistics compiled by the Rising Star game.
Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me remember whether I have already talked about a song before or not. The most recent one is Me Vas a Extrañar from the argentine band Damas Gratis.
Bangarang: Skrilex & Sirah
My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Bangarang from the legendary artist Skrillex and Sirah.
The other day, I was pretty bored exploring the songs I had in my “Likes” on Spotify. I spent quite a long time doing this, because I currently have between 1,300 and 1,400 songs, ranging from electronic to reggaeton, hip-hop, and every other genre you can think of. What caught my attention was finding an artist that I was quite fond of in my late teens: Skrillex.
My first experience with Skrillex was when I visited my stepbrother's cousin's house, where I was watching a music video for a song that had gone viral at the time. The truth is that the song really caught my attention, because until then I had never heard a style of music like it. I'm talking about Bangarang, one of the best songs Skrillex has released and my choice for today's post.
The worst thing about that time was that being a Skrillex fan and liking dubstep was synonymous with being a nerd, something we all wanted to avoid back then. So, in a way, we listened to those songs in secret, while watching Minecraft YouTubers like Willyrex and Vegetta who were pigeonholed in the same way.

Sonny John Moore, known worldwide as Skrillex, is one of the most important figures in the history of electronic music, particularly in his genre, dubstep. In 2008, he began uploading songs to MySpace, a platform for finding indie artists, which allowed Skrillex to gain his first fans thanks to his early songs. In 2010, he released his song Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites, which catapulted him to worldwide fame thanks to its distinctive and innovative sound.
“Bangarang” was released at one of the high points of Skrillex's career, in 2011. It is a collaboration with rapper Sirah, who provides the vocals, while Skrillex showcases his talent for dubstep production. The video for this song was quite iconic, and in fact earned him awards for Best Electronic Music Recording. For my part, I also loved the music video and thought it was something I had rarely seen before.
