In this section, I will no longer be handing out STARBITS, as those entries are not allowed. However, I will continue to share high-quality songs, share how I discovered them, and share some interesting facts about them. To top it all off, I will also include several tables with the statistics compiled by the Rising Star game.
Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me remember whether I have already talked about a song before or not. The most recent one is Bow Down of the hip-hop band Westside Connection
Better Sweet Symphony: The Verve
My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Bitter Sweet Symphony of the band The Verve.
The other day I was looking for new songs on Spotify to refresh the ones I've been listening to lately. Despite having thousands of songs, I tend to get tired of music quite easily, especially songs that were recently added to my “Likes.”
It occurred to me that it might be a good idea to take advantage of a feature that Spotify implemented a while ago, which allows you to see song recommendations in one of your playlists. So I grabbed a playlist where I had a lot of Pop/Rock songs from the 90s and 00s and started looking at the recommendations. To my surprise, I ended up finding many songs that I had already heard a few times and liked, but never knew the name or artist, such as “Whats Up” by 4 Non Blondes, ‘Tubthumping’ by Chumbawamba, and “Should I Stay or Should I Go” by The Clash.
There was one song that particularly caught my attention: Bitter Sweet Symphony. It's a song I listened to throughout much of my childhood, and it immediately brought back a strong sense of nostalgia. I remembered that it was one of my mother's favorite songs, which made that moment even more meaningful and emotional for me.
Recently, I also remembered some of the songs I used to listen to frequently, such as those by one of the world's most famous bands: Coldplay. The Police also came to mind, a band he loved and which was always very present in those years.

The Verve was an alternative rock band formed in 1990 in England. It was led by vocalist Richard Ashcroft, guitarist Nicky McCabe, bassist Simon Jones, and drummer Peter Salisbury.
The band released their first two albums, A Storm In Heaven and A Northern Soul, which, despite their moderate success, managed to captivate quite a few people with their music. True success came with their third album, Urban Hymns, released in 1997. This album included the band's biggest hit, Bitter Sweet Symphony, which became a music classic.
