In this section, I will no longer be handing out STARBITS, as those entries are not allowed. However, I will continue to share high-quality songs, share how I discovered them, and share some interesting facts about them. To top it all off, I will also include several tables with the statistics compiled by the Rising Star game.
Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me remember whether I have already talked about a song before or not. The most recent one is Drivin' My Life Away from the country american artist Eddie Rabbitt.
Bow Down: Westside Connection
My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Bow Down from the american hip-hop group Westside Connection.
My history with Ice Cube began about ten years ago when I was playing Grand Theft Auto San Andreas in its multiplayer format. Thanks to the game's radio stations, I was able to discover two of his songs, Check Yo Self and It Was a Good Day, undoubtedly two of the artist's most iconic tracks. Beyond that, I've probably heard a song or two of his, such as You Know How We Do It.
But until then, I hadn't been that involved with the artist, so except for listening to him very occasionally, I didn't know much about him. Everything changed one boring day when I was scrolling through Netflix to find something to watch. I came across a movie called Straight Outta Compton, and its description caught my attention.
Straight Outta Compton tells the story of the formation of one of the most iconic groups in the history of hip-hop: N.W.A (Niggaz With Attitudes). The first thing that caught my attention was that several members of the group that was forming were artists who are now widely recognized, such as Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, and Eazy-E.
The film also tells the story of how the band broke up due to problems with their manager. Those fights gave rise to one of the most legendary songs for me and an excellent diss track against former N.W.A members such as No Vaseline.

Westside Connection was formed in 1994, just a few years after Ice Cube left N.W.A. The group consisted of Ice Cube himself, along with WC and Mack 10, forming a trio that would go on to enjoy considerable success.
Their debut album, Bow Down, was a huge success, featuring songs such as “The Gangsta, The Killa And The Dope Dealer,” “King of The Hill,” and “Hoo Bangin.” These hits positioned the group as one of the most important of their time, cementing their place in the rap scene thanks to subsequent albums such as Terrorist Threats and Gangsta Nation Live, released a few years later.
