In this section, I will no longer be handing out STARBITS, as those entries are not allowed. However, I will continue to share high-quality songs, share how I discovered them, and share some interesting facts about them. To top it all off, I will also include several tables with the statistics compiled by the Rising Star game.
Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me remember whether I have already talked about a song before or not. The most recent one is Light Up of the UK duo Koven.
Cuando no estás: Andres Calamaro
My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Cuando no estás of the argentine artist Andres Calamaro.
During my early years, I was accustomed to listening to a lot of music at home. This was all thanks to my mother's influence, who downloaded MP3 songs from dubious platforms such as Ares and played them on one of the small speakers we had at the time. Two genres generally predominated: on the one hand, the Argentine rock she listened to in her youth, and on the other, Coldplay songs, which were more contemporary at the time.
I always felt nostalgic when I heard some songs from those days, but I wasn't interested in them until about four years ago. After listening to a song on a random Spotify playlist, I ended up finding a group called Los Abuelos de la Nada. It just so happened that several songs by that group were the ones my mother used to sing during my childhood, which piqued my curiosity and led me to listen to more of their music.
With songs like Lunes por la Madrugada, Mil Horas, and Costumbres Argentinas, they managed to captivate me, and I became quite enchanted with this band. As it happened, one of the youngest members of Los Abuelos de la Nada was a relative unknown at the time, Andrés Calamaro.
He is best known for his solo career, but it is often overlooked that he was also part of one of the most important bands in Argentine rock. My choice today is one of the most iconic songs from his solo career and, without a doubt, one of my favorites: Cuando No Estás.

Andres Calamaro is an Argentine musician who mixed various genres such as rock, pop, jazz, and funk. He began his career at the age of seventeen, playing in bands such as Raices, Elmer Band, and Los Abuelos de la Nada. However, he did not achieve much success until he formed and led a band in Spain called “Los Rodriguez.”
After Los Rodriguez broke up, he decided to pursue a solo career, as many artists with an established name often do. He released several successful albums, such as Alta Suciedad and Honestidad Brutal, which cemented his status as one of the most important artists in the history of Argentine music.
