In this section, I will no longer be handing out STARBITS, as those entries are not allowed. However, I will continue to share high-quality songs, share how I discovered them, and share some interesting facts about them. To top it all off, I will also include several tables with the statistics compiled by the Rising Star game.
Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me remember whether I have already talked about a song before or not. The most recent one is Open Your Eyes from the american band Surfbort.
Pacifico (Sinfónico): Ciro y los Persas
My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Pacifico (Sinfónico) of the argentine rock band Ciro y los Persas.
Currently, I am not following many Argentine rock bands. The real reason is that I feel that the musical quality of a few decades ago has been lost. Argentine music has become repetitive, with excessive use of autotune, and where attitude is valued more than talent, mainly in genres such as urban music or RKT.
Despite this, rock bands are still emerging these days. Most are alternative or indie rock, which tend to have a fairly limited audience unlike a few years ago when rock ‘n’ roll was a popular genre. One of the few bands that managed to achieve true fame were those that emerged in the early 2000s and are still going strong. Among them are Las Pastillas del Abuelo and Ciro y los Persas.
Ciro y Los Persas has become one of my favorite bands in recent times. They are one of the few rock bands that continue to keep Argentine music alive. They have many hits, among which I would highlight several such as Me Gusta, Caminando, Vas A Bailar, Astros, Antes y Despues, Juira!, Amor Prohibido, Luz, and my choice for today: Pacifico (Sinfónico).
I discovered the song thanks to Spotify's recommendation tool, which suggested it to me while I was listening to one of my Argentine rock playlists. I think it's one of the best features the platform has implemented, because it's rarely wrong and always recommends high-quality music. Recently, I've discovered many songs thanks to this feature.

Ciro y Los Persas is an Argentine rock band founded in 2009 by Ciro Martinez, former founder of one of Argentina's most iconic bands: Los Piojos. The rest of the band consisted of guitarist Juan Ábalos, guitarist Rodrigo Peréz, drummer Julian Isod, and bassist Broder Bastos.
The group was formed after the breakup of Los Piojos in 2009, when they played a farewell concert in front of more than 60,000 people at the Monumental Stadium in River Plate. Ciro Martinez wanted to continue in music, so two months later he formed the band he is still with today: Ciro y Los Persas.
With the recognition of their leader and the quality of their music, Ciro y Los Persas soon reaped their first successes with albums such as Espejos, 27, and Naranja Persa. These albums included iconic songs such as Astros, Me Gusta, Antes y Despues, Juira, and Amor Prohibido.
Pacifico is part of the album Sueños (A Journey Through Time), which compiles several songs by Ciro Martinez from both his time with Los Piojos and his current band. The album aims to breathe new life into these classics through a more orchestral reinterpretation.
