Good evening everyone!
In this section, I will no longer be handing out STARBITS, as those entries are not allowed. However, I will continue to share high-quality songs, share how I discovered them, and share some interesting facts about them. To top it all off, I will also include several tables with the statistics compiled by the Rising Star game.
Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me remember whether I have already talked about a song before or not. The most recent one is El Paso from the legendary country artist Marty Robbins.
Rise Up: Cypress Hill, Tom Morello
My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Rise Up from the legendary band Cypress Hill and the artist Tom Morello.
For today's post, I wanted to bring up my all-time favorite group from a genre I love, hip-hop. I'm talking about Cypress Hill, and the truth is that their music is on another level, with excellent instrumentals created by DJ Muggs that are perfectly accompanied by the voices of rappers B-Real and Senna Dogg.
My history with the genre began about 10 years ago, when, thanks to my stepbrother's cousin, I started playing Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. I met a group of people with whom I used to hang out and play quite often. It just so happened that we were playing a gang of African Americans, so it was clear that hip-hop was going to be a part of it. That was my first experience and contact with artists like Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube.
It would be a few years before I got fully into it. This happened after watching a documentary called Straight Outta Compton (explicit lyrics) on Netflix. I was fascinated by the story of the hip-hop group N.W.A. and also by learning that several artists I admired had been part of a band long before.
After that, I started listening to all kinds of artists and bands, which is how I ended up discovering one of the most legendary bands of the genre: Cypress Hill. Hearing the band for the first time was a unique experience for me, and I couldn't help but listen to almost all of their songs, both in English and Spanish.

The funny thing is that Cypress Hill is a band that had several members who were fans of hard metal or rock, but they made the decision to devote themselves entirely to hip-hop. However, on some occasions they used many elements of those genres in their songs, such as (Rock) Superstar feat. Chino Moreno and my choice for today: Rise Up.
