Rising Star - My Daily song choice, Daily Rising Star statistics and giveaway of 150,000 starbits - Las Paces: Las Pastillas del Abuelo

In this space, I will be giving away STARBITS, sharing my experience with a song, telling how I discovered it, and providing interesting facts about it. Then I will include several tables with statistics from the Rising Star game.

Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me remember whether I have already talked about a song before or not. The most recent one is Midlife Crisis of the band Faith No More

My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Las Paces of the band Las Pastillas del Abuelo.

During my childhood, I used to visit my father every week, as my parents had been separated for as long as I could remember. He had started another family with a woman who had two children, and I became very close friends with one of them. He was the one who introduced me to the world of video games and music, teaching me a lot and sharing his passions with me.

In the afternoons, we used to play ball in the street with his cousin, another person I was very fond of as a child. It was he who introduced me to a national rock band I had never heard of before: Las Pastillas del Abuelo. At the time, I liked the group, but I didn't pay much attention to them until several years later, when I rediscovered some of their most iconic songs on the then-new Spotify platform, such as Sensei and La Mano de Dios.

One of the things I like most about Las Pastillas del Abuelo is that they have numerous high-quality songs (I have more than 40 songs by the band in my “Likes” and many of them convey social criticism or very valuable messages). One of my favorite songs by the band is Las Paces.

Las Paces is a song about all the fans of Argentine soccer. It defends folklore and soccer banter, but completely rejects violence between fans who fight only because of the colors they wear. It mentions the most popular teams in Argentina, such as River, Boca, Racing, Independiente and San Lorenzo.

Las Pastillas del Abuelo is an Argentine rock band formed in 2002 and led by artist Pity Fernandez. In 2005, they released their debut album, Por Colectora, which featured hits such as La Casada, Skalipso, Lo + Fino, and Cerveza, and was quite successful.

However, they only achieved national recognition when they released their second album, Las Pastillas del Abuelo, in 2006, which featured more iconic songs such as Tantas Escaleras, Candome De Resacas, Enano, Por Colectora, Amar y Envejecer, and Otra Vuelta de Tuerca.

Las Paces was released in 2014 for the album El barrio en sus puños. It has almost 8 million plays on Spotify and 1.5 million on YouTube.
