Rising Star - My Daily song choice, Daily Rising Star statistics and giveaway of 150,000 starbits - Real Love: Mary J Blige

In this space, I will be giving away STARBITS, sharing my experience with a song, telling how I discovered it, and providing interesting facts about it. Then I will include several tables with statistics from the Rising Star game.

Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me remember whether I have already talked about a song before or not. The most recent one is Always Wanting You of the american artist Merle Haggard

My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Real Love of the american artist Mary J Blige.

It's been about five years since I was bored looking for something to watch on Netflix when I came across a title that caught my attention: Explicit Lyrics. I read the description and noticed that it was about the history of one of the most famous rap groups of all time, so I didn't hesitate to watch it. Until then, I had listened to some old-school hip-hop, but it wasn't a regular part of my life.

The movie was over two hours long, and I enjoyed every minute of it. I really liked the story and learning that several artists I already knew had formed a group before that had been very successful, such as Eazy-E, Ice Cube, and Dr. Dre. In addition, the film also shows the band's breakup, which led to many diss tracks between the artists. This made me a complete fan of the genre, getting to know more artists such as Eric B, Rakim, Nas, among others.

A few years ago, Dr. Dre was the star of the Super Bowl halftime show, where he performed with several artists he had collaborated with during his career: Eminem, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg and Kendrick Lamar. But there was one more person missing from that group: Mary J. Blige.

Her performance at the Super Bowl show, with the songs No More Drama and Family Affair, led me to explore her repertoire on Spotify. Upon discovering that I liked several of her hits, such as Family Affair, Be Without You, All Night Long, The Message (collaboration with Dr. Dre), and I Can Love You, I decided to listen to her entire albums to see if I could find more musical gems.

It was on what I believe to be her first solo album that I found my choice for today: Real Love. It is the artist's most famous song from her first album and one of the main reasons for her success.

This tool is limited to updating statistics every hour.

 ###### The new format will be similar to the one we used some time ago with the Hive Tools application. However, since that app didn’t always work reliably, this time we’ll be using a Discord bot to select a winner from all the comments on a Hive post. The rewards have also increased, reaching 150,000 STARBITS in February.
