Why Don't You Do Right: Peggy Lee
My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Why Don't You Do Right (Get Me Some Money Too) of the artist Peggy Lee.
About four or five years ago, I finished playing Fallout 4. I was really drawn to the plot of that installment, so I was eager to try another game in the series. That's how I ended up buying a PlayStation 3 and purchasing Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas in physical format (the only version available).
Fallout New Vegas became one of my all-time favorite games. I can talk about the setting in the great city of Las Vegas, its atmosphere, and especially the great music that plays on the different radio stations in the New Vegas desert. The songs that appear in the game are mostly from the 1940s to the 1960s, since in that timeline, technology had only advanced as far as the Cold War. From there, the subsequent years begin to differ from our reality.
Thanks to the Fallout saga, I discovered many artists that I would not have otherwise encountered. The most famous example is Frank Sinatra, with his song Blue Moon, which is part of the game's introduction. All of this led me to search for a playlist on Spotify with the game's soundtrack, discovering more artists such as Peggy Lee, Marty Robins, Dean Martin, and Louis Armstrong.

Peggy Lee was one of the most important singers in the United States during the 1940s. She began her career at the start of that decade by joining Benny Goodman's orchestra. In 1942, while she was part of the band, she released the song “Why Don't You Do Right?”, which became a huge hit across the country.
Driven by that popularity, she decided to embark on a solo career, during which she achieved great success with iconic songs such as “Fever,” “Till There Was You,” and later “Is That All There Is?,” which cemented her musical legacy.
Why Don't You Do Right? was not a song composed by the artist, but was written a few years before its release by the group Harlem Hamfats. However, her version ended up being the most famous in the industry and is still listened to today. The song has 30 million plays on Spotify and 3 million on YouTube.
