In this section, I will no longer be handing out STARBITS, as those entries are not allowed. However, I will continue to share high-quality songs, share how I discovered them, and share some interesting facts about them. To top it all off, I will also include several tables with the statistics compiled by the Rising Star game.
Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me remember whether I have already talked about a song before or not. The most recent one is Wanksta from the american artist 50 Cent.
Todo sigue igual: Viejas Locas
My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Todo Sigue Igual from the argentine band Viejas Locas.
Argentine rock has been quite important at various stages of my life. As I mentioned every time I bring up a song from this genre, I have always been influenced by my mother when listening to legends of the genre from the 70s to the 90s. Although I liked the music, it never really caught my attention until I reached adolescence.
My adolescence coincided with the popularity of the Spotify platform, where you could easily access a large amount of music without having to download it from dubious sites or pay for an album. At that time, the platform already had a feature that recommended playlists created by the Spotify team itself.
I remember finding one of the first playlists created for Argentine rock, so I started listening carefully to some songs and picked out a few gems. Although I had grown up listening to rock from the 70s to the 90s, the music I was listening to at that time was more recent, mainly covering the years 2000 to 2010.
I ended up discovering bands like Attaque 77, Los Estelares, Ciro y los Persas, Los Piojos, Las Pastillas del Abuelo, Intoxicados, Callejeros, La Beriso, and La Mancha de Rolando. I remember putting together my first playlist by mixing all those iconic Argentine rock bands.
A few months ago, I took advantage of the Spotify tool that recommends songs based on the type of music that predominates in a playlist. That's how I ended up finding the song I've chosen today: Todo Sigue Igual by Viejas Locas.

Viejas Locas was a band formed in 1989 in Villa Lugano, Buenos Aires. The band's first lineup consisted of vocalist Mauro Bonone, guitarist Diego Cattonni, and Bachi on bass. At that stage, the band was dedicated to playing covers of well-known international bands, but they still needed more members for the band. In their search, they came across Pity Alvarez, a young man who had been learning to play the guitar for a few months. Who would have thought that many years later, this young man would become hugely successful as the leader of the band Intoxicados?
Their first album, “Viejas Locas,” was released in 1995 and had some hits, such as “Intoxicado.” But true success would come with the release of their third album in 1999: “Especial.” ‘Especial’ featured what would be the band's most famous song to date: “Todo Sigue Igual.”
