In this section, I will no longer be handing out STARBITS, as those entries are not allowed. However, I will continue to share high-quality songs, share how I discovered them, and share some interesting facts about them. To top it all off, I will also include several tables with the statistics compiled by the Rising Star game.
Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me remember whether I have already talked about a song before or not. The most recent one is Y dale alegria a mi corazón from the argentine artist Fito Paez.
Wanksta: 50 Cent
My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Wanksta from the american hip-hop artist 50 Cent.
About ten years ago, I got my first laptop. I used it a lot to watch YouTube videos, listen to music, or play games like Minecraft or Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. Since I was a teenager, I always used to download pirated games from pretty sketchy places or from tutorials I saw on YouTube (the good old days of Loquendo).
I remember once downloading a pirated program that, instead of giving me what I wanted, infected my laptop with a pretty nasty virus. The virus ran several pages at once, such as opening pages that said the typical phrase “You are gay” or restarting my computer every few minutes. One of the strangest things it did was play the music video for 50 Cent's In Da Club.
After struggling for a while, I was able to remove the virus from the computer by disconnecting the notebook from the internet and running an antivirus program. But that doesn't change the fact that the first time I encountered the artist 50 Cent was a pretty scary experience for me. I was only 9 years old, and I remember that the computer seemed to be manipulating itself.
My second encounter was a few years later, when I rediscovered my love for hip-hop after seeing the movie N.W.A. I learned that one of my favorite artists, Dr. Dre, was quite important in the early stages of 50 Cent's career, so I decided to give him a second chance after my bad experience. The truth is that I loved all the music on his first album, where I can highlight several songs such as What Up Gangsta, Patiently Waiting, Many Men, In Da Club, Heat, If I Can't, P.I.M.P., and Wanksta.

Curtis James Jackson III (50 Cent) was one of the most important rappers on the east coast of the United States. Raised in a poor neighborhood in New York, Fifty was completely surrounded by gang violence.
Instead of devoting himself entirely to what most men in his situation did, he made the decision to pursue one of his dreams: rapping. In 1999, he signed with Columbia Records to release his first album, Power of The Dollar. Unfortunately, the project never saw the light of day, as he was shot nine times before its release. This incident nearly cost him his life and left him with lifelong scars.
Despite the adversity, he never gave up and continued to release music until he caught the attention of one of the most important artists of the moment: Eminem. With the help of Eminem and Dr. Dre, he released one of the most iconic albums of the genre in 2003: Get Rich or Die Tryin'. This album was an absolute success and featured my choice for today: Wanksta.
