Happy New Week, Everyone. Today's prompt on Hive learners looks interesting to write on, and there is so much inspiration coming from the side. ** If I had the power to Ban***, I wish I could play music. I would have pressed that piano hard. Dan Dan Dan. Giggles. Let's go back to today's prompt.

If i had the power to ban one social media honestly speaking i wouldn’t know where to start from or of i should even use that power. It really easy to points fingers and says “This apps is bad, Social media is crazy lets the one in power bring it down” Shits like thats but to me i think the real problem isn’t just the platform its what we allowed it to become i explained.

Lets take instagram for example we have been seeing different reels so many says it a home of fake perfection. You scroll you see different reels, fake advert, scammers, flawless face, luxury lifestyle and smile that is annoying even i myself have fallen victim to some fake adverts i was desperately need of money it a long story.

When it comes to instagram or any other social platform it easy to lose yourself there trying to live up to what you see there or join the pace. People like comparing theirselves behind the scene to someone else best moments. If i were forced to pick i will definitely choose instagram not because of the scams they have caused but the harm they have done misleading people into believing the wrong thing rather than putting them on the right pact.

But here is where i got stuck trying to wrapped my head about. If instagram disappears wont another platform rise to fill that same space? We humans we are know to crave connection and attention seeking visibility. Today Instagram tommorrow TikTok and the next day might be facebook another day something else it got me thinking you can ban a platform but you cant ban human behavior.

Let think about it Facebook made us social, instagram made us visual, Twitter(X) madd us loud crazy content, crusie and TikTok made us fast. Each one could clearly described who we already are if you are to ban one we just move to another.

After all these i believe banning isnt the answer we need rather balancing. The ability to use social media without letting it use us. Platforms themselves it not really a bad idea. They make the weak stand up and have hope to speak help us earn a living in one way or the other and even brought communities like Hive to life spaces where people connect, share ideas, and build something meaningful without the toxic algorithms of mainstream apps.

Still yet i wouldn't deny the fact social media has helped alot of people we have grow in numbers connect with people far from us chat with them, view their daily life online, streaks and all that so maybe the real ban shouldn’t be on the platform but on the version of ourselves thats need validations to feel alive not abuse the apps itself.

So if i really do have the power I’d ban the unhealthy mindset that keeps us trapped inside them when i mean unhealthy mindset the need to be seen, the fear of being forgotten, the pressure to be perfect. Because until we face that, we could delete every app in the world, and still find another way to build a new one with the same old problems. Thats my conclusion on this week’s prompt.
