Hello Hivers 💕💘,
Since we have a lot of more challenges at this point in time and this is simply because the rain continually drops. That is a very good deal for the Farmers and at the other side it is also a time to do a lot of Farm activities and Farm management. In view of this it is always the best when you also sight some good and healthy farm seed for storage. This storage may be a very long time or a short term depending on how you want it to be. In my own case, I always love to update my seed banks as much as possible so that I can have a very good confidence in it.
Having a seed bank is always good for every farmer because you will be able to think out of the box. Thinking out of the box means that you will be more creative to see a lot of break through challenges ahead of time. I thought of it so many years ago too always have my own different seed bank. And this is why I love to show so many steps which I take and individual farmer on the farm. It may look extremely not easy but with the look of things I know that and the culture will always take it shape very soon.
the green vegetables is always consumed by more people here in west African Nigeria and that is why we have a lot of green vegetables all around even in individual homes. what people do is that the plants different type of green vegetables in their yard. The front yard or the backyard. Ordinarily you see people cultivating different types of hips and ridges mainly to cultivate green vegetables. And this is why green vegetables for survival does not take long at all. I always take note of them so well that even from A to z of some particular green vegetables I know their stages and their duration time.
- Immediately I plant any type of crop as its grow up, I will always take note of how healthy and more active the plants are. when they are very small such that it will always help me to click on the right payment plans to keep the seed for a very good period of time for storage. When I see that the green vegetable is becoming more matured then. More observation procedure follows.
There are always some things to observe before you finally conclude on which of the plant to retain. If you ask me, I will say that. The first thing I will look is how the plant formation grows. How tall and how wide is the parent plant while is growing. I also look at the probability of the parent plant to produce more seed.
Then I also look at the stem formation of the plant. This is a very vital information to take note. When the stem is very thin, it may give you the very wrong impression which is normal. But as Time goes On the parent plant formation will change making it a very good parent plant but most cases I look for a very thick Parent plant which will have a good possibility of making more seed Naturally.
The harvesting was done one step at a time. This harvesting of seed is always a busy day and this is because you watch the payment plans at the same time you watch the seed coming out of the parent plant before you conclude if you want to harvest the seed or not.
When I see the African spinach this matured I quickly rush to it and do a very good fast harvest and this is because I've already seen a very good potential in it. I mean in the parent plant.
Sometimes you may also see that the seat differences are there. is it differences means that some may be black some may be white and some may have another seed color. But once they are fully matured it is great for harvesting with a lot of practical experiments I conclude that the seed harvesting should be done in the afternoon mainly. I have my reasons for it.
The reason being that immediately you harvest the seed you some dry it instantly. The sun drive we also help to put a very quick activation to it.
This was when the proper harvesting was done. We needed fresh African spinach seed on the farm. So this is the best method to acquire more healthy seed. It a little bit stressful and difficult but once you are familiar with it, it is good. You will also make more positive move on making sure that you have healthy seed to plant every planting season.
After this harvesting stage, here comes the final stage which is the sundrying stage.
