Today I am talking about the last car featured on the 2003 Series of Wheeler Dealers

The 6th car Mike bought for the program, was a 1986 Ford Capri Laser 1.6.

Brief Info Mikes Capri was the 3rd Generation Capri, and in my opinion, it's the generation I like the most. The Capri was made as 3 different generations.

Mk2 1974-1978 image.png source

Mk3 1978-1986 image.png Source

The Capri was only Available in a 2 door Hatch/fastback- coupe and as a Front engine, Rear Wheel Drive set up.

The Mk3 Capri only came with Petrol engines, no diesel power for a proper sports car back then.

The smallest engine was a 1.3 inline-four (crossflow). 4 Pots were also available in 1.6 (pinto) and 2.0 (Pinto). V6 Engines were available in 2.0 (Cologne) 2.3 (Cologne), 2.8 (Cologne) and big boy, the 3.0 Essex.

They were also available with a few choices of gearboxes

4 Speed Manual and an Automatic.

What was Mikes Capri? a 1986 Laser 1.6, which means it had the 1.6 Pinto lump, which means it was very slow. It had 76hp and 117 ft-lb torque. 0-60 was 13.4 seconds and had a top speed of only 99mph.

What did the Capri Rival? It rivaled the Opel Manta image.png source

How much was it?

£400

What needed to be done, within the £1000 budget? Replace the front wings Spray the front wings New laser stickers Front Bushes on the suspension 4x tyres 4x exhaust gaskets Front bumper/ Front valance Front Fog lights

This all ended up costing them £545 which brought the total to £945.

How much did they sell it for? Due to the front wings being bodged and the seats being worn out, they made their first loss. They sold it for £700 which means they lost £245

How much can you buy one for today?

I have seen a few rough ones around the £5000 mark, and there is a very clean one for Well, there is a very clean one, at a garage called 'KGF Classic Cars' for £15,000 with about 6000 miles on the clock! Other Capris thou can fetch far more
