Greetings beautiful people of #hive first of all receive a warm and affectionate hug, today I bring you again a small update on the medical situation that my husband has been going through for a year and almost two months, which I have been publishing on different occasions throughout his process since the first day.
I will try to summarize as much as possible, it turns out that last year, in September to be more specific, my husband suffered a fall which caused the prosthesis he had in his spine for some years to move, compressing his spinal cord, since then our lives have become a real ordeal.
My husband has had to go through many doctors, many diagnoses and many treatments, without any positive result, that is to say, no matter what they do so far, nothing calms his pain. As the months went by, the treating doctor at the time recommended surgery to remove the prosthesis and thus decompress the spinal cord and relieve the pain.
We were willing to get the amount they were asking us for the operation which was a very large sum, it was $23,500 for the operation without including additional medicines for the recovery, after much thought, we decided to sell our house, our car and also our party and events business, all to get the amount we needed, with that we got a part for the operation and we still needed half or something like that I do not remember well.
The months went by and since we did not have the money, we began to try other alternatives suggested by the doctors to try to calm the pain, we tried neural therapies, physical therapies, medications of all kinds and nothing lessened the pain, and the worst was yet to come, because despite the injury and the pain my husband could still walk with difficulty but he did, he tried to live a normal life.
The months went by and the neurosurgeon said that these treatments were helping him, that we needed to operate and that the problem was solved. But to tell the truth, my husband was getting worse day by day, practically his ability to walk was decreasing, to the point of no longer being able to stand up, and when he does, the screams of pain and desperation is what he heard.
We reached a point in which practically every day we had to go to the emergency room of the hospital in the city of Cumaná, Sucre State, Venezuela, the city where we live, because my husband could not stand the pain. It is worth mentioning that in every visit to the emergency room we informed the neurosurgeon and he said that he should continue with the therapy and treatment because he would get better while he was undergoing surgery.
I can not imagine how hard it was and is to see my husband screaming in pain and that whatever I do nothing calms him, and more distressing is to hear the doctor say that everything was fine, that only needed therapy and surgery, therapy which I felt that nothing was helping, so my husband and I decided to stop them and seek new alternatives, was how searching the internet I found a review of a pioneer neurosurgeon in minimally invasive surgery which was listed as one of the best neurosurgeons in Latin America, And we have him here in our country, in the city of Caracas, I immediately got going and wrote to the doctor, I sent him the reports, everything I had, thinking that it would take many days and maybe even months for him to read it, in case he did since we knew how difficult it is to get an appointment with this doctor, but to my surprise the next day, I received an answer, the doctor scheduled an appointment to see my husband since he thought it was a very interesting case to treat.
We did not think twice and with the few savings we had left we went to the city of Caracas-Venezuela, when we arrived they sent us to make new studies to my husband which ended almost all of our economic resources, because for those who do not know this clinic is one of the most expensive in the country, but believe me it is worth every penny you spend there, because the treatment is very different, since we arrived they made us feel that we were human beings.
When the doctor reviews the results of the studies performed and hears everything that was done to my husband here in Cumaná, he is horrified, he could not believe how a neurosurgeon with such a severe injury to my husband's spine put him in therapy, and how he applied the different treatments that only made the injury worse, making it bigger and much more dangerous, since the bone marrow is almost compromised, in addition to the damage caused to the vertebrae, most of which are completely damaged.
Can you imagine how I felt? Well swindled, because these treatments were very expensive, the doctor indicated surgery as soon as possible, he strictly forbade her to walk so as not to enlarge the injury even more, on the one hand we were happy because we finally had a real diagnosis, one with which we agreed, but on the other hand we were invaded again by terror, and we were not so far from feeling that, because when we saw the costs of the operation and prosthesis because now due to the injury there must be two, these costs almost gave me a heart attack.
The sum, nothing more and nothing less than the operation 27.896$ and the prosthesis 6600$, not counting the preoperative studies that together give a total of 500$ more, in addition to all this large sum, is the fact that we must stay in the city of Caracas-Venezuela for at least a full month, food, transfers, consultations, postoperative medicines, etc, all this and our budget is currently zero, since unfortunately everything we had saved we spent here because of the bad diagnoses and improvised treatments to which my husband was subjected.
Taking advantage of the fact that we were in Caracas I took the copies of everything, reports, budget and we took it to the presidential palace in an office they have called Sovereign People Foundation which is responsible for helping people with few resources to cover the costs of operation and treatment, which I had understood if they provided help, But unfortunately so far we have not had a positive response, they have only told me that it is very difficult for them to approve that budget, that we have to wait, but time is what my husband is not having, because if we take more time to do the operation he may have permanent damage to the spinal cord and will not walk again.
This has been a very uphill journey that we have faced, we are homeless and now we are living on our own, without a job because we sold the business, with nothing, just because of a bad diagnosis, now we still have to find this amount of money that is almost impossible for us to have, besides the depression that my husband has because he can not make his normal life, that is why I need your help, all the support you want to give me.
It is not easy to achieve this goal, but from the bottom of my heart I feel that we are going to achieve it. Many have asked me why not go to public facilities, but for those who are here in Venezuela, and know how critical the situation is, I ask them: Would you put the life of a loved one in the hands of these "doctors"? We are aware that it is a large sum but nothing is impossible when you have faith.

Saludos gente bonita de #hive antes que nada reciban un cordial y afectuoso abrazo, el día de hoy les traigo nuevamente una pequeña actualización sobre la situación médica por la que se encuentra atravesando mi esposo desde hace un año y casi dos meses, la cual he venido publicando en diferentes ocasiones todo su proceso desde el primer dia.
Voy a tratar de resumir lo más posible, pues resulta que el año pasado, en septiembre para ser más específica mi esposo sufrió una caída lo que trajo como consecuencia que la prótesis que tenía en la columna desde hacía unos años atrás se le desplazará, comprimiendo su médula, desde ese momento nuestras vidas se han convertido en un verdadero calvario.
Muchos son los médicos por los que ha tenido que pasar mi esposo, muchos diagnósticos y muchos tratamientos, sin tener ningún resultado positivo, es decir, hagan lo que hagan hasta ahora nada le calma el dolor. Con el pasar de los meses el médico tratante en ese momento recomendó operar, para retirar la prótesis y así descomprimir la médula y calmar el dolor.
Estábamos dispuestos a conseguir la cifra que nos estaban pidiendo para la operación que era una suma bien grande, eran 23.500$ de la operación sin meter medicinas adicionales de la recuperación, luego de mucho pensarlo, tomamos la decisión de vender nuestra casa, nuestro carro y también nuestro negocio de festejo y eventos, todo para conseguir la suma que necesitábamos, con eso conseguimos una parte para la operación y aún nos faltaba la mitad o algo asi ya no recuerdo bien.
Los meses fueron transcurriendo y en vista de que no teníamos el dinero, empezamos a probar otras alternativas sugeridas por los médicos para tratar de calmar el dolor, probamos terapias neurales, terapias físicas, medicamentos de todo tipo y nada aminoraba el dolor, y lo peor aún estaba por venir, pues a pesar de la lesión y el dolor mi esposo aún podía caminar con dificultad Pero lo hacía, trataba de hacer una vida normal.
Los meses fueron pasando y el neurocirujano decía que estos tratamientos lo estaban ayudando, que necesitábamos operar y listo problema resuelto, Pero en honor a la verdad, mi esposo empeoraba día con día, prácticamente su capacidad de caminar fue disminuyendo, al punto de ya no poder mantenerse en pie, y cuando lo hace los gritos de dolor y desesperación es lo que escuchó.
Ya casi se acercaba la fecha en la que se cumpliría un año de lo sucedido y todo iba en retroceso, llegamos a un punto en el que prácticamente a diario teníamos que asistir a la emergencia del hospital de la ciudad de Cumaná Estado Sucre-Venezuela, ciudad en donde vivimos porque mi esposo no soporta el dolor, cabe destacar que en cada visita a la emergencia le informamos al neurocirujano y este decía que siguiera con la terapia y tratamiento que así iba a mejorar, mientras se operaba.
