Happy new week, dear Hiviers of Modherhood! I hope you're well and in the best possible mood for the start of this new week.
Even though our children grow up, they will always be our little ones. And when it comes to their health, the protective instinct kicks in like never before. Last Thursday, while I was at work, my daughter MarĂa Daniela called me worried: she was experiencing abdominal and back pain that she couldn't describe.

She's suffered from kidney stones since she was a child, so I suggested she drink plenty of water and take a painkiller, thinking it might be that. I came home late and found her still in pain, with pale lips and visibly uncomfortable. My husband hadn't arrived, so I called him to stop by the pharmacy and get an intramuscular painkiller. I gave it to her so she could rest a little.
Fortunately, my oldest daughter is in her last year of medical school and had already examined MarĂa. She told me, "Mommy, if it's not kidney stones, it's probably something in her gallbladder." This worried me, so the next day I took her to the clinic for an abdominal ultrasound.

The scan showed no stones in either the kidneys or the gallbladder, and everything seemed generally fine. However, the sonographer mentioned that the gallbladder was kinked, which can cause pain in some cases. Although I didn't receive the report immediately, I decided to consult with a general surgeon while Maria was still in the clinic.

During the physical exam, the doctor noticed tenderness throughout the abdomen, especially in the gallbladder area. He was concerned that the walls were thickened or inflamed, so he prescribed additional tests and a liquid diet for three days, in addition to starting medication.

Thankfully, the results came back: the gallbladder walls are smooth and thin, with no signs of inflammation. The blood and urine tests came back well, and only a stool test is pending to complete the evaluation.

Maria has been following her diet and is taking her medication. Although she's still in some pain, she's much calmer. I just pray to God that this is temporary and that she'll soon be fully recovered.
Thank you for reading. That's all for today's post. I hope to see you here soon!
