My grandchildren had their well-child appointment, something she always carefully organizes so she could be there. Fortunately, my daughter María and my niece Yohanny arrived first with the children to make their appointment and complete the insurance paperwork. Meanwhile, Daniela was on her way, and my husband and I arranged to pick them up after leaving our respective jobs.
When we arrived, they hadn't been seen yet, so we decided to stay with them. The children were very active and excited to see the doctor, which pleasantly surprised us. In the past, these visits had been dreaded and they would come in tears, but this time was different: they entered the office with a smile, behaved very well, and allowed themselves to be examined calmly.
The doctor found them in excellent health, although he noted that they were not yet fluent, so he recommended starting speech therapy and performing some routine lab tests.
