Being a mom, I'm sure you value independence and self-reliance. And to do that, one thing we want our child to learn is to do things on their own, even if it means a little mess along the way. Like what I decided to do for my son, Ryzen. Yesterday, I let him eat alone, without my assistance. I encouraged him to feed himself, even if it might be a messy process. I gave him a Yum Yum choco snack. Oh, before giving it to him, of course, I washed his hands to make sure they were clean before it would be covered in chocolate. While he enjoyed the sweet snack, the chocolate dip spread everywhere.
It's in his tiny hands, around his mouth, on his cheeks, on the floor, and even on his clothes. It was a total mess, yet adorable! But rather than feeling upset, I couldn't help but laugh because he looked so funny and cute, almost like he had a little instant chocolate mustache. 😂 I also see this as a step in his growth, a part of his learning, and having fun. After all, when I saw that he was done, I cleaned him up. These little messy moments will teach him a valuable lesson of being independent and responsible. By allowing him to enjoy his snack and clean up himself, he will learn that making a mess is okay, as long as he tries to tidy up afterward.
