Tuesday, grass day, which is great, although the downside is that it's speed day, torture, ha ha ha. A new day, getting closer and closer to the big day, to a race that I know we're going to enjoy a lot. Today we're training in the morning, which makes it hard to get up, but it's best to train early because the weather isn't so intense. Before going to the stadium, I did some warm-up exercises at home to get a head start, as the stadium opens at 6:00 am and I have to make the most of my time as I have work in the morning. This is a downside of training in the mornings, as I have to time myself carefully, but even so, it's worth training early, as you get more rest and you're home in the evening.
Thank God the stadium was open when we arrived. I started my training with a 1.5 km warm-up at a controlled pace to prepare my body for the sets. Today's workout was based on 400 m sets with 200 m recovery. Without a doubt, even though I like the sets a little more now, they're not my thing. It's necessary work, but I don't enjoy it until it's over, ha ha ha. I did eight sets of 400 metres with 200 metres of recovery. Today I didn't look at my watch, I just worked on how I felt. I didn't push myself too hard in the sets, just a little faster than normal. These series do seem to last forever. With just one to go, I tell myself, you did it. Well, thank God it was in training, the weather was good, and the stadium was just for us, which was the best part.
