The inauguration of the 23rd Hive borehole in Ghana is another step forward in our vision to change lives by giving communities access to clean drinking water. There was a fantastic display of happiness and excitement at the inaugural event, as happy, smiling community members came in to celebrate this life-changing moment. For many families, what was once a dream is now a reality, and they no longer have to walk for miles and rely on unsafe water sources.
The significance of this project cannot be overemphasised. With clean water being delivered to their doorstep, this community will now have the chance to lead a healthier life. Waterborne disease will be dramatically reduced, children can now be at school and not fetching water, and women can be redirected to spend this energy on other productive activities rather than carrying large containers of water. These advantages will continue to ripple through the community for decades and excite the very heart of the community.
While at the event we also took the opportunity to engage Hive with the people. We illustrated to them how they are now connected through the blockchain to a seamless number of supporters in relation to all of the borehole projects. Each borehole we develop not only gives communities clean drinking water but also provides a chance to engage Hive and highlight the incredible power of technology for social good.
The benefits that derive from clean water are often underestimated and too often chalked off as just the convenience of water and health. It is so much more than that. It is the dignity of drinking fresh water. It is the hope that the future of children is better, and we are providing the foundation for them to do so. Clean water changes lives, generates ripples that substantially improve education, ensures better health and economic benefits, and empowers communities to overcome poverty.
Looking forward, we are more compelled to go further. We hope to finish the year with 25. Not only would it be awesome to hit this project milestone, but the impact on lives is hard to measure. We would like to express a huge thank you to everyone that has contributed towards this mission, demonstrating that together as a community through Hive, we can positively impact lives in Ghanaian communities.
