Walking through the forest.

One time I experienced a forest in Ghana that I will always remember. I was walking in every direction and surrounded by green trees stretching to the sky, leaves dancing in the wind, and the whole forest floor carpeted alive with undergrowth. The forest was fresh air, the songs of birds and the rustle of leaves, real music that does not exist in the city. It was as if Nature herself was softly whispering secrets on peace and balance to me.

As I strolled through that forest that day I was thinking about how lucky our country must be to have such a wealth of natural resource. We have incredible resources, that many countries can only dream of, and we have them but are caught up in our own denial and a state of volatility. But mostly I was simply enjoying the scene. Every view could be put in a frame. the layers of varying shades of green, the sunlight piercing through the canopy, and the felt communication between earth and sky encouraging balance.

The forest reminded me that beauty is not only in what we create but can exist in what is alive and there. Nature communicates so powerfully, without any sound. In these photos I share, you are seeing not only a forest, but living evidence of what we should have been cherishing and protecting, as well to remind us to appreciate our own spaces too. When we protect nature, we can protect ourselves.
