Greetings to all the readers here
Today is Diwali, the festival of lights, and I send my good wishes to all the people who are reading this blog. I know that people have deep feelings and emotions connected to this festival, and saying anything against it might make them sad.
But I just want to request everyone to try to reduce the number of crackers you burn, especially if you are living in a metro city because the pollution there is already too much.
The place where I live, the AQI (Air Quality Index) has crossed 800, which is a very high mark. Even an AQI of 200 is risky for people, but that’s something we inhale regularly, and today it crossed 800.
I know it’s just for today and maybe for the next few days the impact will stay, but just think about it, we can use that money for something better instead of buying crackers.
So I request everyone to burn fewer crackers, and if you are burning them, please go for eco-friendly ones. I am not against anyone who wants to celebrate their festival or follow their beliefs. I completely understand how important it is to stay connected to your traditions, but please try to reduce the number of crackers.
I was reading a newsletter that said around 100 to 200 crores worth of crackers were sold just in my city, and in the whole of India, it might have crossed thousands of crores. That’s a huge number! I hope people will think about burning fewer crackers and maybe use that money to help someone in need.
That’s what I wanted to share today. The air quality index here is getting worse, and I am sitting inside my house with doors closed. So, celebrate the festival with your family, enjoy it, but make sure you don’t end up contributing to the bad AQI.
There are crackers that don’t harm the environment that much try to go with those eco-friendly ones, so you don’t become the reason for the poor air quality in our city or country.
Thank you, and Happy Diwali once again! 🪔
