Hey, beer fellas, how are you today? It is Monday and although it is a workday and beer is not a good option (during the working hours), I can still look back two days ago, when on Saturday I had another craft beer in the lazy afternoon. After all, #beersaturday is waiting our post, isn’t it?
After various posts and various beers from “The gardenbrewery”, Croatia, this time it was time for a bit of change. It was time to return to Bulgarian craft breweries, because I have to admit that we have some pretty good players around.
Today’s beer is a NEPA which was brewed from the Meltum brewery, which was founded in the small city of Lovech and is a proof that good stuff can be made even in not so big and prosperous regions. Although the Lovech municipality isn’t doing great, I think the brewery is the exact opposite.
Design wise, I like a lot these stylized pipelines and brewery gear and the color scheme is pretty pleasant. Although this dark pink color cannot be associated directly with hops, ot malt… or anything close to beer, it surely looks nice.
Time to open it, right? And a big, nice pour afterwards.
Yeah, the New England haziness is right here and the beer surely looks beautiful. Nice and juicy… Hop aromas are being released instantly and they are pretty nice. Citruses, a little bit of pine and a whole world of freshness. Head is pretty and fine, lasts good amount of time.
In the mouth the aromas of the hops are duplicated, which bring even more positive emotions in my head. One downside is that the beer feels quite thin. It is true that it is not an IPA, and Pale ales are by definition weaker, but maybe I expected a bit more.
It is definitely a good beer, maybe it is just my peronal preferences that make this seem not so good. I think in a greater summer heat it will be an excellent refreshment. The weather is just getting cooler and it is time for some thicker beers. Maybe some stout next time? We will see.
