Well, well… here we are again. It is not Saturday, but we are all here again for another great #beersaturday. And while I was wondering what beer I would pick for my weekly post, I found this gem in my refrigerator.
I have just a little ifea where did it come from, but I really cannot recall knowing tha this was an Imperial Blueberry, Lemon & Vanilla Sour. And as it cannot be more interesting, it is even Imperial at 7,1 ABV. On the label it is said that Lemons come from Lisbon, but I have no clue how they arrived at the brewery in Croatia. But in the company of some blueberries and sourness, the beer sounds perfect for summer.
The Garden Brewery named their beer Dolina, which in Bulgarian means valley. Are there any Croatians around to share the meaning of Dolina? I guess it will be similar to our language! But let’s go forward and open the can. I am really curious to see how this looks in a glass!
And… it is absolutely stunning! If you tell someone that isnt into sour and fruited beers, that this is a beer, he will definitely laugh at you. Great purple-ish color with amazing pink foam. It definitely isn’t that long lasting, but it definitely looks great. When pouring it in the glass, a strong blueberry puree aroma hits me, and there is a hint of vanilla as well. Lemon isn’t here now, but I guess it will come stronger in the flavor.
Look at this beauty! I am wondering if I have a beer in my glass, or a fancy mouthwatering blueberry fresh.
As the beer came into my mouth, it is instantly sour! Lactic sour, not brett. This is nicely complimented by the taste of the lemon zest and the great blueberry puree! Vanilla gives a really goot finishing touch to this summer cocktail. I don’t onow how… or why… but this fruit and beer combo possesses amazing balance, and I cannot find any flaws.
The only flow is that it these 440 ml end quite fast and there is no other can in my hands. Or… maybe it is better that way. The higher alcohol content doesnt reflect the light flavor, so you can be easily tricked into being a bit tipsy quite fast.
I admire the whole crew of the brewery, that stands behind that little gem. This may not be the usual summer beer and its taste is amazingly different, but it feels perfect for this time of the year.
What do you think? To you like the looks of this one and would you like to have one? I bet that you will want another one, just like myself.
This will end my post for today. I will probably see you next week with another beer. Hopefully it will be almost as good as this one. Cheers for the Garden Brewery!
Have a nice day!
