Hello, dear Hivers!!!
In this new post, i'm sharing some new Splinterlands fan art... When i was reviewing the cards again, i fell in love with this death creature for obvious reasons. I decided to save it for when i had time to draw it, since at the time i saw this awesome character, i was busy with another drawing. This week i was finally able to do it.
I admit that participating in this weekly challenge has been a good creative exercise, perfect for filling my sketchbooks with different themes. Although i can't always participate as much as i would like, i've really enjoyed it, which surprises me a little because i thought i would get bored in the process, since it's not what i'm used to doing. In fact, near the end of the drawing, i got so lost in the drawing that i forgot to keep looking at the reference photo 😆 But i think i captured the important parts.
Fenmoor Gorgon

Secrecy, strength, and patience have kept the gorgons of Fenmoor Basin alive when so many others have perished. Most kept to their covens when the Conclave Arcana came.
But Craniax the Quick swayed a handful to join the hunt for the secret of Praetoria. His promises of power were tempting enough, but it was the sight of his undead army that convinced them. Better to march beside him than rot in his wake.
They do not serve Craniax. They serve survival. And if survival means feeding the living to the dead, so be it.Splinterlands.com
Sketch / Ink time

I already had this sketch a little more organized in my mind, in fact... While i was finishing another drawing, i was thinking about how i would do this one. I focused as always on her face because, in this medium format, i decided that all the fan art i do will be portrait-style. So, once i made the sketch with graphite, i went over the lines with blue and then black ink.

Materials / Color Base
At this stage, i already knew that i would use the same materials as always. On this occasion, i couldn't use watercolors or anything similar because this sketchbook doesn't have the right kind of paper for that technique. So, i would only use alcohol markers, colored pencils, multicolored pens, and acrylic markers, in that order.
I started with alcohol markers for the background and all the base colors. This would make it easier for me to complete the details with the other techniques, which usually take longer. Alcohol markers are a great shortcut. I admit that this part sometimes scares me a little because you don't always start with the tones you'll use in the end, so it's easy to panic at this stage and think that everything will turn out badly. Fortunately, i've learned to stay calm and trust the creative process. It ends up being relaxing and complements my nighttime meditations before bed, as i usually draw at night.

Coloring Pencils
With my foundation already in place, i continued with colored pencils to give volume to the snakes, color their red eyes, clothing, and finally their skin. On the forehead, i added a jewelry detail similar to the chain around her waist.

Acrylic Markers time
Unlike other drawings, in this case i decided to give shape and color to secondary elements of the drawing such as the background and the power effects coming out of her hands. I didn't intend to draw anything exact, just to be inspired by spheres of light. For this detail i used acrylic markers, and this part of the drawing was one of my favorites. At this point, i really relaxed. It reminded me a little of Van Gogh's impressionist style and his Starry Night.
The snakes part seemed a little tedious to me, and this detail helped everything else start to take the direction i wanted in terms of color.

Skin details
I wasn't quite sure how i wanted to color the skin. In the end, i wanted it to have a golden effect, as if all the mystical and powerful radiance of this Gorgon were reflected in her skin.

Last Details | Snakes
As i mentioned before, i think the snakes were the most tedious part, but not because i found them difficult. I think it was more because i wasn't entirely sure how i wanted to color them, and indecision is never good in these cases. Finally, after adding all those bases, inspired by the patterns i saw on the underside of this Gorgon, its large tail... I added those textures to the snakes, and that turned out to be a good decision. I loved how they turned out; that was just what i needed.

The End
And that's how this wonderful Gorgon turned out, elegant and sinister. I really liked how the color palette turned out. And that's all for today. I hope you like it and have a great night or day 💜 See You in the next Chapter ;)
