Hi there! I really want to thank you for taking the time to learn a little about me. My name is Melanie, or Mel for short. I am preserve, conservative, just name it as a simple gal and really never speak if I was not firstly approach because I easily get intimidated but sometimes I haven’t noticed that I can easily share ideas with a stranger if I can relate and easily can give advise. But the sweetest pet name I can remember from my late grandmother was “Naning”. Isn’t it lovely, right? Sweet as the people in Iloilo. Currently a virtual assistant but still learning and there are a lot of rooms of improvement. I can say this is a test on my end to showcase my talent in blog writing. Hopefully, I will learn a lot here moving forward and develop my skills as an aspiring writer.
Both of my parents’ parents come from the Visayas region—Cebu, Leyte, and Iloilo, and migrated here in Davao City. And I inherit nor innate in me to have a strong bloodline. In this section, I’d like to introduce my beautiful mom. I admire her resilience, strong personality and even strong mama too. At my early age, around 8, my papa got Diabetes until such time my papa was forced to resign due to the disease. My mom is our superhero. She raised us her 5 children by her own sweat and strategy. It happens that we are blessed to have a mom like her. She thrived for us to finish our school and now that she is old. I’m the one who takes care of her. She is my incredible mama. And I love her… cool mama.
By the way,I am kinda chef in the house. I plan, decide what to cook. Prepare a meal with my mom and nephews. After I cook, meal comes after. We are not even rich so the dishes I cooked mostly Filipino dishes like soups as what they called "law-oy", fried dried fish, afritada, chicken curry, fried chicken, adobo, paksiw (fish or lechon) and maybe depending on the occasion or sometimes nada coz we have our friendly neighborhood who gave us food. I’m still learning and help myself in cooking. At first, I really doubted myself in cooking because I’m not a good cook but everytime my nephews would say it was delicious and we really have those empty plates. I’m touched by their comments, smiles and gladly have them full. These are my routines, and I can definitely say “ A way to a man’s heart is their stomach but these are my nephews. Hahaha! Hopefully, I am really aligned with their heart and they won’t forget me until such time they have their own family. I haven’t documented their reactions but it is an honor to cooked them.
