My new promise, how could i forget::: I will get back into a schedule with writing and photography, and I will publish something once a week, at least.

There's a lot to update you on, so I'll try to be concise
We have a bunch of new friends/extended family now:
First came the chickens, actually. My buddy brought home some egg-laying hens and one of them wanted to hatch eggs. She was "broody." But there was no rooster. So I bought a bunch of chicks for her and she took to them. I didn't realize that incubator hatched-industrial chicks would lack the normal instinct to even stay under the mommy-lady to stay warm and thus alive. Thankfully, 10 of 13 survived and caught on.

Then my friends brought home a kitty for me. He's super sweet and affectionate. I asked him what he would like to be called and he said, "Rrrrádu." So Rádu, it is.
The dogs are learning that they must not chase him. For now he mostly stays up on the second floor where is my bedroom. But as the space has no door , nor even a front wall, he comes down as he likes.
Interestingly, Lovey-dog, who I was most concerned about hurting the kitten, was the first one to befriend him. Rádu came right up to him at the top of the staircase and kisses his face and Lovey was in love. He's a sucker for kisses.
Two days ago my buddy went to see his son's newborn piglets and one of them appeared to be dead. She'd been rolled over and/or stepped on by the mother and was unresponsive. But when they took her out of the pen to "toss" her, she made a little squeak. As two had already died during the birth, he didn't want his son to suffer with trying to cure her, as it really seemed that she would likely not make it.
Well, not only is she making it, she's recovering well and rapidly. She's getting fat and running around even, chasing the chicks. It's chilly still at night and sometimes during the day too. And having no heating pad or even a hot water bottle... She is sleeping in my bed with me for now. She needs to drink warm milk every two hours. At first I was giving her straight cow's milk; a neighbor said that is the way to do it. But I've been researching and learned that it's better to dilute it half with water and add an egg yolk per 8 ounces of that mixture, to make it closer to the nutrition of sow's milk. I don't think there is any chance I could buy "piglet replacement formula" even if I could find it for sale here... So I'm doing my best. She's incredible. Very loving and affectionate and fun. But as she wants to suckle for comfort, besides the milk, she ends up biting me a lot. The first night, i didn't sleep at all. The second night, I slept about five hours. And last night better still. And It's worth it.
We were going to call her "Pancake," as her mother had tried to make a pancake out of her...then came the jokes that, because I'm "spoiling" her by keeping her up in my arms, she would grow to be a 600 kilogram pig who wants to sit on my lap...."and that's how Meli died..." And as one friend pointed out, "Pancake is not a good-luck name." So the nena and I came up with "Chichu." Pigs have a real language. It's consistent. The most notable and distinct sound that she makes is when she is happy to see somebody, or as it turns out, also to hear a familiar voice on a voice message. Last night, she crawled out from under the covers when she heard the voice of a friend whom she was held by, cuddled and given lots of kissies from over the weekend. And she was making this sound that she also makes when she wakes up and first sees me, with a big smile on her face, she says "HAHAHAHAHAHAH!" It's beyond beautiful. Wish me luck and send your prayers for health and well-being. She is doing quite well, has a lot of energy and she's fattening up...but she needs prayers still..honestly, the straight cow's milk seems to have made her constipated, so I've been adding a tiny bit of honey and/ oil to her mixture and she just had a warm bath to help her poo. But she hasn't pooed and I'm concerned. Tonight around 8 p.m. she will be a full four days old.

Me ayuda a crecer. Con autenticidad. Por favor, critica mi escritura, fotografía, etcétera.
