Let's do a little more shopping at the Broadway Antique Market (BAM!) in Chicago. It's a great spot to shop for unusual items!
They are known for their collection of high-quality Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern furniture and decor, but I'll save photos of decor accessories for a future post and focus on furniture here.
It is one of Chicago's oldest and largest antique malls, with interesting items from over 75 different dealers.
I'm personally not attracted to most of the Mid Century Modern era's clean and straight lines from the 50's and 60's. The use of plastic, vinyl, fiberglass, chrome, and plywood is not appealing to me, Maybe I'm simply too old to consider this furniture antique! I think of pieces from the 1800's and earlier as antique
These chairs are probably 1960s to 1970s Vintage. The vibrant, bold colors like this burnt orange velvet and the dramatic, oversized profile are characteristic of the later decades of the Mid-Century period and the beginning of the "Retro" era.
This display is a showcase of Late Mid-Century Modern/Mod design, where the clean lines of these chairs meet the vibrant patterns and colors of the wall and artwork.
Most of the items in this display are Mid Century Modern, including the patio furniture, bar stool, lamp and daisy pop art.
Would you purchase any of this furniture?
