Vegwater" in Edgewater is a community garden in the Edgewater neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The vacant lot is owned by Loyola University and I belive it is a future building site, but until then the space is providing food, flowers, and an opportunity to do some gardening for the community.
.
Notice the two butterflies flying up by the power lines! The zinnias in the gardens were attracting many bees and butterflies.
The official name is the "Vedgewater Community Garden" and features over 150 rental plots, as well as communal plots where anyone can volunteer to help grow and harvest food and flowers.
The produce from the communal plots is often donated to local organizations like the Edgewater Mutual Aid Network and Care for Real's food pantry.
