Hello, friends, it's a pleasure to greet you. Today I'm sharing some photos I took of a visitor 🦋 that was perched on the terrace of my house.
I thought it was beautiful because of its colors and their patterns. When I was little, in my naivety, I believed that all butterflies belonged to the same family just for being butterflies. However, as I grew up and studied, I discovered that each animal belongs to a specific family, even if they are of the same species. It's like us, humans: we are all Homo sapiens, but each one comes from a distinct lineage.
Thanks to the photos, Google identified it quickly and I learned several things. This butterfly belongs to the Nymphalidae family, native to southern Texas, Mexico, and Central America. Its scientific name is Anartia fatima, but it is known as the "Banded Peacock" or "Fatima."
Curious to know more, I discovered that both sexes are similar in appearance and that their wings measure about 6 to 7 cm. The truth is that they are relatively large; seeing it in person, its size and how perfectly it flapped its wings were noticeable.
If you look closely at the images, you will notice that one of its lower wings is quite incomplete. That's why I decided to name it "Warrior." Imagining possible situations it might have gone through to lose part of its wing, I came to the conclusion that, whatever the reason was, it managed to come out victorious and is still standing, flying without fear and visiting many homes. 🦋🩵🦋🩵🦋🩵🦋🩵🦋🩵🦋 Text and images are my property.
Hola, amigos, es un placer saludarlos. Hoy les comparto unas fotos que tomé de una visita 🦋 que estuvo posada en la terraza de mi casa.
Me pareció hermosa por sus colores y las formas de los mismos. Cuando era pequeña, en mi ingenuidad, creía que todas las mariposas pertenecían a la misma familia solo por ser mariposas. Sin embargo, al crecer y estudiar, descubrí que cada animal pertenece a una familia específica, aunque sean de la misma especie. Es como nosotros, los humanos: todos somos Homo sapiens, pero cada uno proviene de un linaje distinto.
Gracias a las fotos, Google la identificó rápidamente y aprendí varias cosas. Esta mariposa pertenece a la familia de las Nymphalidae, originarias del sur de Texas, México y Centroamérica. Su nombre científico es Anartia fatima, pero es conocida como “pavo real con bandas” o “cocinera”.
Curiosando un poco más, descubrí que ambos sexos son similares en apariencia y que sus alas miden alrededor de 6 a 7 cm. La verdad es que son relativamente grandes; viéndola en persona, se notaba su tamaño y lo perfectamente que aleteaba.
Si observan bien las imágenes, se darán cuenta de que una de sus alas inferiores está bastante incompleta. Por eso, decidí nombrarla “Guerrera”. Imaginando posibles situaciones por las que pudo haber pasado para perder parte de su ala, llegué a la conclusión de que, sea cual fuera la razón, ella logró salir victoriosa y sigue en pie, volando sin temores y visitando muchos hogares. 🦋🩵🦋🩵🦋🩵🦋🩵🦋🩵🦋 Texto e imagenes de mi propiedad.
