Hello, Hive friends, it's a pleasure to share some beautiful black and white photos with you again. This time, I present to you the impressive architecture of the Hotel Nacional de Cuba, located in Havana, the country's capital.
This beautiful place holds many happy memories from my adolescence and youth. The first time I saw the inside was thanks to my mom, who is a great admirer of this place, especially its spacious courtyard. Some kind of event is always being celebrated there, full of joy and people from diverse nationalities, which makes it very pleasant to hear the different languages in which they converse.
Without setting aside my curiosity, I did some research on this place. Its construction began in 1929 and was completed in record time. Its inauguration took place on December 30, 1930. It was built by an American firm with the main goal of attracting high-level tourism, including recognized and famous people.
Delving a little deeper, I discovered that figures such as Winston Churchill, Frank Sinatra, Ava Gardner, John Wayne, Marlon Brando, Gary Cooper, Nat King Cole, and even members of the American mafia, like Lucky Luciano and Meyer Lansky, stayed in its rooms. Today, it represents a symbol of the island's cultural, political, and social history.
The hotel was the site of the historic Havana Conference in 1946, where the main mafia leaders gathered to negotiate business related to casinos and hotels in Cuba.
When Fidel Castro came to power in 1959, the hotel was nationalized. It became state property and, although it ceased to be the epicenter of the international elite's nightlife, it continued to be a historical and tourist site.
In 1998, it was declared a National Monument. It is still active today, with its gardens facing the Havana Malecón and the famous Hall of Fame, where photos and memorabilia of the celebrities who stayed there are displayed.
The gardens of the Hotel Nacional, facing the Malecón, are a refuge for those of us who have spent unforgettable afternoons there; without a doubt, it is my favorite part of the place. I visited those gardens for the first time when I was a little girl, and since then they have been etched in my memory as one of those places I always return to without hesitation. Let me share a little anecdote with you: a few years ago, in the garden grass, I found a leopard-print sun hat. My mother fell in love with it as soon as she saw it and used it until recently.
In those gardens, I have lived through my love sorrows, my joys, the best years of my adolescence, and, above all, unforgettable moments with family and friends.

Hola, amigos de Hive, es un placer volver a compartir con ustedes unas hermosas fotos en blanco y negro. En esta ocasión, les presento la impresionante arquitectura del Hotel Nacional de Cuba, ubicado en La Habana, la capital del país.
Este hermoso lugar guarda muchos recuerdos felices de mi adolescencia y juventud. La primera vez que lo conocí por dentro fue gracias a mi mamá, quien es una gran admiradora de este sitio, en especial de su amplio patio. Allí siempre se celebra algún tipo de evento, lleno de alegría y personas de diversas nacionalidades, lo que hace muy agradable escuchar los diferentes idiomas en los que conversan.
Sin dejar de lado mi curiosidad, investigué un poco sobre este lugar. Su construcción comenzó en 1929 y, en un tiempo récord, fue finalizada. Su inauguración tuvo lugar el 30 de diciembre de 1930. Fue construido por una firma estadounidense con el objetivo principal de atraer al turismo de alto nivel, incluyendo a personas reconocidas y famosas.

En 1998 fue declarado Monumento Nacional. Actualmente sigue activo, con sus jardines frente al Malecón habanero y el célebre Salón de la Fama, donde se exhiben fotos y recuerdos de las celebridades que se hospedaron allí.
Los jardines del Hotel Nacional, frente al Malecón, son un refugio para quienes hemos pasado tardes inolvidables allí; sin duda, es mi parte favorita del lugar. Visité esos jardines por primera vez cuando era niña, y desde entonces han quedado grabados en mi memoria como uno de esos sitios a los que siempre regreso sin dudar. Permítanme compartirles una pequeña anécdota: hace algunos años, entre la hierba del jardín, encontré una pamela de playa con estampado de leopardo. Mi madre se enamoró de ella en cuanto la vio y la usó hasta hace poco.
En esos jardines he vivido mis penas amorosas, mis alegrías, los mejores años de mi adolescencia y, sobre todo, momentos inolvidables con familiares y amigos.
