Hi friends in the LikeTu community, this is Menati. Today I want to share a very special hospital photo session from the very first days of a newborn’s life. Before the shoot, we coordinated with a designer to make sure the outfits, decorations, and background were all matching. That’s why the soft pink theme became dominant, bringing a sense of tenderness and calmness.

But like always, photography is not only about the beautiful results – there are challenges behind the scenes too. The hospital room was quite small, which made moving around with equipment a bit tricky. On top of that, the baby was impatient and cried often. Many times, I had to stop shooting and step out so the mother could feed the baby and calm her down, then return and continue. These breaks took time and made it harder to keep focus, but in the end, the results were worth every effort.

In one photo, the father is holding the baby, gazing at her with so much love. In another, the mother embraces her little one, showing that pure maternal bond. And when the baby is lying on the polka-dot pillow with her eyes open, it feels like she herself wanted to be part of these captured moments.

For me, this photos it was a reminder that every challenge is part of the story. And when you finally see the photos and the parents’ smiles, all the difficulties fade away. I truly wish this sweet little one a life full of joy and peace, always surrounded by the love of her parents.

One of the most important aspects I focused on during this hospital shoot was framing. Since the room was small and my space to move was limited, I had to play with angles and lens proximity to create the right frames.

Some shots were taken very close, especially when the father was holding the baby. These closeup frames helped capture the intimacy and the pure love in his eyes. On the other hand, I also included wider shots where both parents were in the frame along with the decorations in the background. That way, the photos didn’t just show the baby but also the family atmosphere and the celebration.

For the newborn, I mostly went for simple and straightforward framing. When she was lying on the polkadot pillow, I shot from above, directly, so that her gaze towards the camera was clearly captured. This kind of simple frame became very powerful, as it placed full attention on her little face and expression. Photography by @menati Camera sony a7 iii lens 24-70 f 2.8
